Mapfact.net is looking for voice actors

Recommended Posts

By the advice of a moderator i try it again here wink_o.gif

Gentlemen, Mapfact.net kindly asks for your help.

As we are trying to release our missions for the whole community - not only our fellow german speakers - OneManGang has just wondered if there are any native speakers willing to share their voices with all of us.

In his first ArmA mission Purgatory there are basically four teams trying to free the occupied city of Chantico. Alpha and Bravo (both US), Charlie (RACS) and Delta Stryker team, US). Alpha (lead by the player) has to destroy AT positions defending the town. Bravo lands on the beach and will support the attack on players command just like Charlie positioned in Balmopan. Once the AT guns are destroyed some Strykers join the fight and take care of all that's left.

Even though it might not be higly innovative it's pretty full of action and some fireworks so we think it'll be good fun to play. And it will even be better with the right voices adding to the atmosphere. So we'ld be very glad about your help and recordings!  smile_o.gif

Thanks in advance!

Alpha Team (player lead)

- "This is Team Alpha! Bravo and Charlie: Go! Go! Go! Over!"

- "This is Team Alpha. We have destroyed all the guns. The reinforcements can be sent to Chantico. Over!"

- "This is Team Alpha. There are no more enemy forces left in Chantico. Over!"

Bravo Team

- "This is Team Bravo. Moving to our position! Over!"

- "This is Team Bravo. We are not in position yet! Over!"

HQ

- "This is Eagle One. Team Bravo and Team Charlie are in Position and ready for attack! Over!"

- "This is Eagle One! Destroy all enemy forces in the village. Over!"

- "This is Eagle One. Good job! Move to the extraction point northeast of Chantico now. You will be picked up there by a truck. Over!"

Delta (stryker)

- "This is Team Delta. We are moving to Chantico. Over!"

Ok, I don't have a good sounding voice, but I have a nice text-to speech program. I can output you a US english speech (male or female) in no time.

One problem though : it sounds very polite and laid back and not "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE !!!!" like.

Very nice for briefings, a bit too posh for down in the trench radio communications.

Bye

Here you go.

Clean version and "Radio" version. Watch the link above if you want to ty it for yourself

While that is impressive for a text to speech program, it is waaaay too polite for military radio chatter.

question, for mapfact.net:

Do you need the voices to be very dramatic, like yelling the words or sort of more recon like?

should it be "IN POSITION!!!!!!!!!!" or "in position"? (...hahaha typing to convey volume is funny)

I know it's too polite. But who says you can't kill with style ?

Anyway, this took me about 2min to output, and its slightly less noticeable with the Radio effect...

I'm only here to help.

Hi scubaman3D,

the first recording

"This is Team Alpha! Bravo and Charlie: Go! Go! Go! Over!"

needs some dramatic, its an order to attack. The other recordings are not "in-battle-voices", some sort of recon like as you would say smile_o.gif

Hi Eric,

thx for your link. This kind of speech is more useable in news sequences or stuff like that or when only one team sends radio messages, because the speech is always the same (?)

Thanks for your help,

OneManGang

EDIT: I have made the radio messages using the program linked above. Just amazing. By mixing the us and british voices and the use of filters, pitching and so on you can create some nice radio chatting wink_o.gif.

There is no need for recording human voices at the moment.
