Lacking dedicated server documentation

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Got a dedicated server running now and the "documentation" that came with it, is lacking to say the least.

1. It doesn't specify how the mission names should be entered. Thanks to OFP I remembered to remove .sara.pbo but I'm unsure of how it handles spaces in the missionname.

[Edit: Do not remove .sara smile_o.gif ]

2. There's no mention of how you set max number of players. I've seen almost all servers have defined this, but what is the variable.

[Edit: MaxPlayers = 32;]

3. Finally it's the server bandwidth settings. It says to store this in flashpoint.cfg. This seems like a very cut'n'paste from the OFP documentation. Is the file supposed to be called flashpoint.cfg? If not, then what?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Karr! Lurker from fear.net here.

I have a problem now with the server, mainly that it just says waiting for host when I connect to it. I can login as admin and start a mission manually but that's not good enough.

[Edit: I had wrong name in server.cfg on the template-field.]

Also, when I check the firewall, my client keeps trying to connect to port 10034, then 10036, 10042, 10046, etc. What's this?

One last thing I've forgotten. How do I run it as a service? -service? [Edit: Nevermind. Wiki points to this article; ]http://support.microsoft.com/kb/137890/en-us]

Ok, I'm pretty much up and running now, all I need to know is if the server performance settings (such as MaxMsgSend and such) should be placed in the arma.cfg in My Documents/arma folder?

Yes, if arma.cfg is what the server launches from.

Everybody names them diff.

Parameter should have -config=arma.cfg

Uh no. You're referring to the server config. That's not where you put the server performance variables.

You can determine the place of your arma.cfg with the -profiles command. ie<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">-profiles=C:\ArmA\serverprofile smile_o.gif

My bad Rekrul, I missed your location you pointed out.

It does go in the arma.cfg

I use FireDaemon, which has a command line to put the parameters in. Also easy to add @ folders to same line (when we get some).
