the unknown 0 Posted December 23, 2006 Fact that you can't pass 1 feet high obstacles in ArmA is very very anoying. I believe it will be changed in patches. System similar to CoD2 would be great, no jumping, just posibility to jump over obstacle when you move close to it. I don't. Look, this isn't CoD or anything, and from a technical standpoint it'd probably be difficult to implement. It was never a (big) problem in OFP, so it shouldn't be one in ArmA. Yeah but in ofp you could glitch trough the little fences and small walls since they fixed the detection you cant do that anymore. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
wamingo 1 Posted December 23, 2006 I certainly don't want a jump function but if we don't get a climb function, well, prepare to get stuck inside the knee high railing on this building roof and probably many others: stuck on roof in arma from mp demo. robert(uk) 0 Posted December 23, 2006 I did actually manage to 'jump' over that low wall in the picture above. I ran at it and then hit the Z key to go prone. If I did it at the right time, I would end up in the air on the other side of the wall, and thus fall to the ground. I can also do this occasionally by strafing into the wall whilst zoomed into my ironsights. Did this yesterday in the demo and ended up standing ontop of a BRDM, where I found that I couldn't move, apart from changing posture. This was sorted when a guy got into the BRDM and moved it, so that I fell to the ground and could move normally again... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

There are a few animations that are used depending on the obstacles height, 20cm you'll just step up on to it, a metre you'll use your arms to pull yourself up This shouldn't be too hard to implement it could even be modded, just give objects of different heights an action to play the animation then move the player on top or over. But if BIS could implement this to automatically determine heights of objects and you simply tap a climb key rather than use the action menu then all the better.
