how can i set the game resolution to 960x600

Check in \Documents and Settings\YourUserName\My Documents\ArmA

Open up ArmA.cfg in notepad and change the following bellow and save.

Resolution_W=960;

Resolution_H=600;

You might have to make ArmA.cfg read only so ArmA doesn't change it back to something else if you go into video options.

No need for any text editing. Check your video options. If the resolutions supported is by your card and monitor, you can select it there. (Text editing may be useful if you are not able to start the game at all.)
