rickydrier 0 Posted December 16, 2006 Hello everyone, I've just downloaded and installed the german version of ArmA and it won't run. Here is the error message i get after trying to start the game : "Application won't start because of missing file D3VD9_30.DLL." Here is exactly what i did : 1) downloaded game from http://boutique.gamesplanet.com 2) installed game 3) donwloaded and succesfully applied patch v1.02 4) started game This is when i get this error message. Now, i'm fairly new at this and i must probably have done some mistake somewhere (the first of all being that i deleted the install files, that i am currently downloading again to try reinstall). Here are my system specs : - Windows XP - 2,16 GHz Intel CPu - 2 Go RAM - GeForce Go 7900 GTX / 512 MB Anyone able to help me sort this one out ? Thank you all very much ! rickydrier 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Thanks for your quick answer... Here's my status : - i downloaded install files again and reinstalled and patched game - still same error message - downloaded DirectX install from the link you gave But when i execute this file, i asks : "Please type location where to extract files to" What location should i specify ? As i says, i'm fairly new to all this, and i don't want to screw something on my computer with wrong directX update. Can you help me out here as well ? Thank you ! rickydrier 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I forgot to mention : i did a DirectX check-up (typing dxdiag in command prompt) and here is what i get ! - Version DirectX : DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) From what i heard, this is what i should have to get the game running, right ? desertfox 2 Posted December 17, 2006 I can't find this file in the MSDN database. I doubt it is directx related.
WhiskeyBullets 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Placebo is correct that it is a DirectX file you can use the following program to uninstall it. DirectX 9 Uninstaller http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=522 Then reinstall for the link Placebo supplied
Rommel 2 Posted December 17, 2006 Same problem, re-installing Direct x9 now. Specs: - Pentium4 3ghz Processor - 1gb Ram - Windows XP - Geforce FX 5700 (does run SM2.0 btw)
craigsa 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Guys dont reinstall direct X - i had the same prob and just downloaded the missing dll and put it in my system folder and it worked fine. D3DX9_30.DLL FIX Let me know if this works - it worked for me and a friend. Good luck
HitSqdhaXor 0 Posted December 17, 2006 But when i execute this file, i asks :"Please type location where to extract files to" What location should i specify ? Extract to "C:\DirectX9c (You will have to type it in and click that it is OK/YES to create the folder.) Then browse to the folder "C:\DirectX9c Then execute the file: DXSETUP.exe
rickydrier 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Guys, you've been great ! Downloading the missing DLL and putting it in WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory worked fine for me. Now the game runs fine and it looks like i've got nights (if not weeks) of work ahead of me adjusting to this new game, the new commands and the german menus. But i must say it looks fabulous ! Again, thank you all for your time and your answers.

desertfox 2 Posted December 17, 2006 Stating the name of the DLL correctly would have been rather useful to solving the problem. The topic title reads "D3VD9_30.DLL" - And that's not a Microsoft file.

Yes he did typo the actual missing file but it was pretty obvious to anyone with a basic knowledge of windows that that's what the problem was
