Hasha 2 Posted January 30, 2002 Man, the more I look at the hind, the more I fell in love with it, superior speed, damn good armour and weaponry plus her fat and chubby belly, itsn't Hind the prettiest and most venerable chopper ever! Enemy soldier and tank see it poo their pants! How can we not love it! BTW, has anyone seen or took a ride in a real Hind? How is it like? Nice work Russians! Assault (CAN) 1 Posted January 30, 2002 Yes, the Hind is quite "sexy" and venerable, but this would kick its ass. The Hind is good, but not the best. Tyler
christophercles 0 Posted January 30, 2002 Indeed the hind is an outdated platform, and is no loger being upgraded. Did you know that the PIVADS system they use in flashpoint doesnt actually have the effective range to take out a hind? the hind could hit it long before it would come into range. Wobble 1 Posted January 30, 2002 the Mi24: PROS: 1:fast.. equally fast as the Commanche. 2:strong side and frontal armor CONS: 1: cumbersome, due to its weight it is not very responsive and cannot do an effective snap turn. 2: thick armor.. in military tests its was found that many time s 20mm ground fire would bounce and off the side and fragment.. straight into the rotor assembly.. causing probably rotor control problems and possable loss of control. 3: outdated weapons system and detection systems.. in the modern battle field its threat detection systems are far under par. (post 1990) NOTES: SPEED:the Hinds speed poses no real utility, never in actual comnbat would a gunship need to or want to travel 200mph.. this is too fast to accuratly detect and enguage threats at standoff range (gunship's asset).. and cruising at such a speed would be so fuel iniffecent that it would almost never be done.. so the hinds speed.. is pretty much uselss.. ARMOR: its armor is outdated and would not be sufficent to modern shoulder fired AA missles or newer higher velocity AP AA rounds.. so basically it gets all the problems of having thick armor (slow to respond.. etc) and none of the benifits.. perhaps the hinds was hot shit when it first came out.. but in the modern battlefied.. its a sluggish lumbering bulleye. Pete 1 Posted January 30, 2002 the hind does look sexy, there has never been as sexy chopper built btw, the hind is not supposed to be flown as a "chopper", but more like a low strafing aircraft...it comes with speed and in pairs/groups and blows the shit of the enemy in front of it. it was never made for hiding behind trees and alike...its ability to carry troops gives it a chance to "take and hold ground", if a apache would be used for the same purpose then it would have to escort a transport chopper.... btw..those wings the hind has its weaponry on does provide a lot of "lift" for the chopper when flying at a good speed, its pretty much more of a chopper of its own "type" than a basic chopper. apache is much better, but also a lot newer..designed for a different purpose. comparing those two is like comparing a rally car with a f1 racer. but you could always compare hokum/havoc with apache/comance since usa (or the rest of nato?) doesnt have anything similiar to the hind. Hasha 2 Posted January 31, 2002 Agree, but the Hind and Appache are from a complete different era. Maybe our Hind is getting old and needs some upgrade? Both the Hind and Appache are good.
