drb0mb 0 Posted December 1, 2006 Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis doesn't load at all after displaying the splash screen. The executable recognizes the cd, but after the splash screen disappears nothing happens, no error or sound or anything. Everything just stops, as if I never attempted to load the game. I've done some troubleshooting of my own and narrowed the problem down a bit: I've downloaded the demo. The demo DOES work. I've used an alternate CD drive; neither work. I've installed it on a different computer; it DID work, so the CD is fine. I've disabled the sound card before loading; sound hardware is not an issue. I've updated all my video and chipset drivers. The part that confuses me most is that the demo works? I have a Pentium D 840 with 768 meg of ram Sound Blaster X-fi Radeon X800 pro graphics

drb0mb 0 Posted December 1, 2006 No luck. For troubleshooting reasons, I downloaded a no cd bypass/crack thing. It still didn't work, so the problem is not ASPI layer related. But thanks.
Heatseeker 0 Posted December 1, 2006 Tell us atleast what version you are running. OPF 1.46 or GOTY/RES 1.96. Be sure to have the latest patch installed. Also inside your OPF main directory you might find a RPT file, if you do open it with notepad and see if there's anything relevant in there. edit: Have you tried to lunch the game thru the OPF preferences utility? I sugest you try it, lower your graphics settings including texture resolutions and give it a shot, be sure that the max memory under the performance tab isnt higher than your systems available memory. BraTTy 0 Posted December 2, 2006 Sounds like he's running Ol CWC 1.46? Running X800pro (same video as me) Nevertheless getting stuck at that screen is possibly the AGP aperature thing, try lowering your AGP aperature in your Bios setup.(unless by chance thats a PCI-E don't bother)
drb0mb 0 Posted December 3, 2006 Since the game won't load, I'm unable to install updates. I'm running v1.20 I believe. Apparently the game needs to load when you install updates? When I try to install the updates, the same thing happens, splash screen then nothing. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to change the agp aperture setting. I've never done it before on this computer, and it seems to have some unstandard way of accessing it. I've got a P4M800-M7A motherboard, but I don't have the manual. Edit: lowered agp setting as low as possible; effort in vain.
Placebo 31 Posted December 4, 2006 I've got a P4M800-M7A motherboard, but I don't have the manual. That motherboard is based on the VIA chipset according to this page which is a buggy chipset if you don't have recent drivers installed, what version motherboard drivers are installed? You should try the latest drivers from viaarena
