jantenner 0 Posted December 1, 2006 ok, so i used some packet sniff program and found out how you need to configure your router to play with a low ping. you need to map the arma server youre connecting to, usually 2302, to your port 2304, where arma client receives data, so external port 2302 to internal port 2304, udp protocol. remember to forward these ports in your firewall too. now i have 20 ms ping and no desync (before 200-800) but there is a slight chance thats total bullshit im writing here and i had just bad luck with servers before, since the gamespy way of telling connection quality doesnt seem very reliable. InqWiper 0 Posted December 1, 2006 I strongly recommend getting a switch instead of a router. I had 3 routers and now I have a switch.
Mr Groch 0 Posted December 2, 2006 What port must I open on my firewall to host ArmA server? 2302 UDP only?
sickboy 13 Posted December 3, 2006 I strongly recommend getting a switch instead of a router. I had 3 routers and now I have a switch. You can only use a switch if your connection allows multi external ip's or if your modem is infact a modem with built in router, in that case if one of your other routers is more advanced, you could turn off your router functionality of your modem and still use your other routers. BTW, you dont have to forward anything if you dont run a server, check my latest post here; http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=55112
