ADF Blackhawk down

A S-70A Blackhawk crashed into the sea while trying to land on the HMAS Kanimbla.

1 Person has died

7 Injured

1 Missing

HMAS Newcastle & HMAS Kanimbla are searching for the missing personal.

Not too long ago I received an email with a video of a Chinook-type helo trying to land on top of a ship, but then it slipped somehow and went down right behind the ship... there was another ship trailing it, but damn... I was shocked to see the helo being swallowed whole without it even stopping a bit on the surface... I thought those big helos had some kind of buoyancy... confused_o.gif

I guess it was a Seaking that got caught in the reling wires, the pilot pulled up trying to free the helo and it just flipped over into the sea.

Not only that... Chinooks are actually built to float, so they're amphibious atleast to certain extent.

I've seen that vid, it was a CH-46 Sea Knight. Smaller then the chinook that the US Marines use. It sunk like a rock.

@ Blackscorpion - They are built to float, the right way up. The Sea Knight that Buzzard was talking about landed on the water upside down/on its side. So it flooded in seconds.
