Hate to put a damper on the celebrations...

...but those pictures are of VBS. Virtual Battle-field Simulator uses the VBS engine not the OFP engine. This means that when the data disc comes out in the Spring with all these tasty addons they will have OFP characteristics...not VBS characteristics. The only likely similarity will be the models and textures (which may actually have to be simplified for Operation Flaspoint). Basically you will not be able to stand on deck or go inside the ship, it'll be like the Logistics ship in the game at the moment. Landing on it will result in the aircraft uncomfortably jumping around or mysteriously falling through the ship to the murky sea depths. Other things I've noticed from VBS pictures is working ramps and rotors that fold back...these are unlikely to be in the OFP versions.

I am going to get seriously flammed now I can feel it coming...

WEll take a look at the bottom left hand corner, there are no VBS logos on it. Secondly the guy that gave them to Ausflashpoint said thay aint for VBS.

Well ok...I take the bit about textures back, but I still stand firmly on the fact the VBS engine is vastly superior to the OFP one.

And if those pictures are not from VBS maybe they are tasters of the lovely data disc coming out later this year. If so then might we expect a new island? You can see here what looks to me like a reef or tropical looking water...mmm...very nice.

And I still don't think that the aircraft carrier will be usable if it is indeed OFP. I expect the aircraft on it are part of the same model, for looks as oppose to functionality.

Yea, they my add a big patch to solve the issues you talked about cause i remember in an article about it that certain features are to be added from VBS.

Amazing units here

Umm, it does use the operation flashpoint engine. You can see that just looking at any screens. Also, why would BIS say that they would release some units later for ofp if they didn't work on ofp?

No, the VBS engine is not the same engine as found in OFP. It is based upon the same code, hence similar looks. But it is not the same. In VBS you can walk around inside vehicles, doors open and close, ramps move, rotors can fold back, models can use far more polygons, aircraft can land on ships, etc.

BIS are releasing units from VBS to the OFP community because the moment we saw VBS we shouted very loudly 'WE WANT THAT NOW!'. The models won't need to be altered hugely and it wouldn't be a huge job to convert the models them selves, maybe a bit of simplification. But anything that heavily relies on the VBS engine will have to be rigorously modified to fit OFP requirements or else scrapped. Without engine modification (that I doubt we'll see) we won't have working ramps or doors or walking or landing on ships.
