chipper 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Hi I recently bought a 7800 GS for my computer and I noticed OFP is not running any better maybe worse than my old 9800. I heard thing about newer hardware not supporting OFP. What are OFP friendly drivers I could use for my 7800 if there are any? Cause when I run ECP and have 7 vehicles and 1 soldier I get 8-20 FPS. Mr_Tea 0 Posted September 1, 2006 The "old" OFP engine is the biggest bottleneck this days. Armed Assault will run good with youre card, if any driver will improve the performance in OFP is a good question.
456820 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Well for my Geforce 6600 i use the 84.21 drivers they work best for me then any other ive tried others seem to cause flashpoint to crash every so often and crash during alt+tabing. Not sure if these drivers work with your card but could try looking.
Heatseeker 0 Posted September 2, 2006 Best driver might depend on your card.. For this 6600GT im very happy with 91:31 (wich i believe are still the latest?). They perform well and above all fix some V-sync/refresh rate display tearing issues i used to have, also no "out of memory?" or any other issues or crashes that i also experienced before with some drivers. New HW does support OPF but OPF wont take advantage of it, also bear in mind that OPF is still CPU hungry and user made mods like ECP might increase the load. Video drivers wont overclock your CPU or make OPF use it.. better . If you want to know how well your HW and drivers do with OPF i recomend you to use a clean game install. Mr_Tea 0 Posted September 2, 2006 I use an GeForce 6600GT too, with driver version 91.31. There are no problems with Alt+Tab, or atleast not that much. Sometimes it gives me ctd`s, but not often.

deanosbeano 0 Posted September 2, 2006 have you done a Ofp benchmark test since you installed the new card ? if so what you getting ? i have done exact same as you and getting a 6382 benchmark also remember if it was memmory slowing you down a new gfx card wont help, what mem and how much have you ? As for the driver i use the ones on the install disc and have all settings on application controlled and system settings high performance. applicationand active profile are set to global settings 2gig of mem dual band
Mr_Tea 0 Posted September 2, 2006 The OFP benchmark don`t care about the videocard, the bechmark is a test of the CPU strenght afaik. btw. 6000 points for my AthlonXP 3200+ ~2200Mhz.

chipper 0 Posted September 2, 2006 I have a AMD Athlon 3000+ XP w/ 1GB of RAM when I get back to my house I'll see what OFP benchmark I get. Is it my CPU that's too slow?
deanosbeano 0 Posted September 2, 2006 Quote[/b] ]The OFP benchmark don`t care about the videocard please can you expand on this, because succsessive gfx cards in my pc have lead to better benchmarks,i am not doubting your words, just that i really wanna know ,if its the better mem in gfx card or is it the card itself being better to run ofp ? lt.chris 0 Posted September 3, 2006 yeh i feel the same with my BFG 7900 512MB gfx card thinking it has done bugger all to ofp when i upgraded i hope itll prove better in arma
Mr_Tea 0 Posted September 3, 2006 As i wrote "afaik", thats means "as far as i know". I don`t change my hardware that often, and i don`t want to exchange my 6600GT with my old FX5900 XTV to see if that changes the benchmark result. As 456820 posted it seems that the grafic hardware is benchmaked too. Edit: With a better "GFX card" OFP runs better. With AA+AF, higher resolution, but most probably not with a higher viewdistance. Edit2: I`ve installed the 91.47 version of official Nvidia drivers. OFP works fine so far, let`s wait and see if errors occure. To the benchmark: I took a look in the Flashpoint Preferences. The benchmark is called "CPU Benchmark", so to the benchmark result it shouldn`t matter what grafic hardware you have installed.
mattxr 9 Posted September 3, 2006 Well my ofp was crap, then i upgraded gfx card to uber one, and it was still crap just was able to play on normal setting and a little higher terrian veiw distance.. so i thought lets get mtself into debt. and i bought a brand new processor and gfx card and gaming motherboad and whoaw was ofp good. i got a AMD2 Gaming Motherboard [dont no proper name] AMD2 Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.21GHZ 1Gb of Ram Nv GeForce 7600 GT now i play all games full detail like BF2,HL2,X3 and that with no lag problems or slowdowns. including ofp. with the lastest nividia drivers. chipper 0 Posted September 3, 2006 Well I already have a pretty good GFX card, but it's AGP :-( And I want to upgrade to Core 2 duo next, I guess I'll have to sell my 7800.

Same here but i use a GF 7600GT strange, as when i bought myself the 7600GT the 91.31 drivers didnt support it, only the latest 91.47 driver. 91.47 works fine and dandy for me, nice 2500 VD (anymore and its a little too much for me to take in), full details, objects LOD and a smooth 50fps on nogova on my own.
