Shiny textures?

Recommended Posts

how do i make textures look "shiny"?

like the metal on a plane?

is it a "texture" or a "config" issue?

if the later, what should i add in the config to make the textures look a bit shinier?

its the config, and its to do with cfgmaterials - essentially you tell flashpoint what texture file is meant to be shiny, metalic etc etc

check out the official commented configs, or the latest ORCS release... or search, as i know this subject has been discussed before in the editing section of these forums

Config and you need to binarize the model.

Look for cfgmaterials in the Oxygen forum. There's a guide for it somewhere over there I believe.

EDIT: Messiah beat me.

is it possible to use the cfgtexturetomaterial for other things, a roof for example?

Yes on all P3D's.

EDIT: 2500th post, I have spend way too much time over here crazy_o.gif

I believe you can only make things "shiny". This topic is a good guide.

technically yes, but you can set the level of shinyness, so perhaps if you tinker with the numbers, you could make something dull and woody...

cfgMaterials is possible on every P3D. I have no idea if it will make weapons look good and what's the impact on your PC if you're going to add materials to all firearms.

i tried it out on some of the ww2ec weapons, and i think BIS does it on the m16... well its not bad but not that noticeable, i think its only worthy if you want some chrome effect or really shinny paint like a brand new car or something similar... i was thinking of using it on vehicle mirrors though to give the illusion of light being reflected on the surface...

one of the major drawbacks its not a face property like it should have been (just like the light settings), i dont know why they made it a texture "property", as a result if u have mixed materials in the same texture they will all look shinny confused_o.gif
