JumpinJackFlash 0 Posted January 24, 2002 I hate when playing CTF and see a satchel charge at the flag. You can't do anything about it other than finding the guy who is watching the flag/charge. I don't believe that real life satchel charge can handle a grenade blast or even getting shot to pieces by an M-16! BIS please do something about this! Rogue2020 0 Posted January 24, 2002 LOL funny as hell....see a bomb sitting by the flag..."L"
JRMZ 0 Posted January 24, 2002 Yes this is kind a strange. You cant shoot the satchel to pieces and you cant also disarm the satchel. On the other hand, when the player that put the satchel charge is dead the satchel charge becomes useless. That's kind a strange to. No one can pick it up and trigger it again. Zardoz 0 Posted January 24, 2002 Same is true for mines... Beeing in a tank, even if you actually see a mine, it's useless to shot at it, regardless if you use MG or Sabot or HEAT. Shouldn't at least a HEAT destroy a mine ???
caz 0 Posted January 24, 2002 yeah they need to be able to be destroyed by gunfire etc worse thing was playing tribes 2 and hearing a beep..beep...beep just as u went for a flag :/
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted January 24, 2002 Well, a satchel should be "disarmed" after a heavy hit, but it should not go off. It's plastic explosives - you can throw it on a fire and nothing happens.
masa 0 Posted January 24, 2002 Mines and Satchel Charges should blow up when shoting at them. BIS should do something about this.

FetishFool 0 Posted January 25, 2002 BIS can make an excuse for mines and Satchels. They can just say that they're both made of C4. That's why if you shoot them, or blow them up, they don't explode. "Satchel Charge" just means 'bomb in a bag'. Literally. So BIS can say anything.
Wobble 1 Posted January 25, 2002 They can just say that they're both made of C4. That's why if you shoot them, or blow them up, they don't explode C4 is dentonated by shock.. a bullet hitting a brick of it might.. and frag blowing up on it would FOR SURE set it off... FetishFool 0 Posted January 25, 2002 Yes, C4 is detonated by a small electric shock. But fire won't detonate it. Soldiers used to use C4 to heat up their rations by lighting them with a match. Most grenades used by soldiers today are basically to create a concussion. So a modern grenade probably won't set off a block of C4... Well it might if the C4 was strapped to the grenade itself. Which is unlikely since that's just kinda strange.
Wobble 1 Posted January 25, 2002 nooo.. not an electrical shock.. a concussion.. like a smaller explosion.. its set off by a smaller blast.. I.E. a blasting cap or some det cord the cap or cord is what is fired electrically.. but teh C4 is detonated by shock.. a bullit hitting it MAY provide the shock needed to set it of.. and a frag going off right next to it definatley would. rickyrrude 0 Posted January 25, 2002 it'd be great if they would just implement the option for disarming or arming explosives and mines by any personel who happens by, or if not, maybe just any engineer or black op, or spetz natz. that'd work for me. Sandman 0 Posted January 25, 2002 C4 dont explode when shot upon...a bullet doesnt travel that fast to implement the "shock" to the plastic-explosive. U need another, smaller "explosion" to set of a C4-explosion. In Sweden we have something called a "Pentyl"-fuse. It burns at a very high speed (definition of explosion). Something like 3000 m/sec (im not sure of the exact m/s, but its very high...). This can be used to set of a C4-charge.
Chan 1 Posted January 25, 2002 I think Satchel should have an opinion on this topic, lets wait for his comment.
Major Fubar 0 Posted January 25, 2002 Yes, we've all heard the stories of how safe C4 is unless it is triggered by a smaller explosion. You can burn it, shoot it, stomp on it, swear at it, eat it, microwave it blah blah blah.... Fact is, you wouldn't catch me anywhere near a block of C4 if someone was shooting at it. That simple. Beside, mines and satchel charges carry a detonator charge inside them them, otherwise they couldn't set off the C4, right? And a detonator charge definitely isnt bulletproof.
