You forget there are crossover players :P

I play CS:S fairly regularly, likewise with a few others. And I attend the Zeus nights where I p00nz0r d4 n00bz0rz in a fairly professional squad/coop manner :P Good idea though.

Are you going to let them make you a CS1337z0r player when it's over? wink_o.gif

Haha! I'd bet they want to! tounge2.gif

Anyway, I've updated the blog and written about the first training session.

I like this idea, I also am a member of Zeus and I feel a deep, tactical attack and defend would be good.

What sort of time-scale are you looking at for the 'final exam'.

I would download SFP again to participate in it. Dunno about any other Zeus people.

Jinef: I haven't really thought about it. It's still weeks to go.

Anyway, I've updated the blog again with the second training session. Well, it's not updated quite yet, but will be once you read this.

Well, maybe CS-players aren't a bunch of 1337-h4xx0rz who just blame cheating when they die cause they didn't watch their back.

You was pretty hard on that guy to kill him when he was on guard duty and was writing. Though, writing and activity in OFP has never worked, atleast not for me. Alot of crashed Ferraris in CC, cause I was writing tounge2.gif

Good luck with upcoming games, and I was wondering, how can I come and play with you?

I have SFP4(.1.5), so I should be fine.

Swedish OFP-players that have SFP 4.1.5 and JAM3 are welcomed to any training. I can always use an extra hand. Just add me to MSN. smile_o.gif

Last nights game was very good, "Bjällbo"-mission seemed to be a great tactical mission, where h3adache and U_U under my command, seemed to implement most of what they've learned, and never had any problems with authorities (so to speak).

And, we pwned you, 1337!!!1!!1 biggrin_o.gif

wink_o.gif

Anyways, just for everyone's information, these CS-players is better and more focused then many original OFP-players I've played with, some of them is still pretty jumpy (well, who isn't when the SFP AK5 goes off, sounds like thunder biggrin_o.gif), and some have pretty happy trigger-fingers. Not necessarily a happy trigger-finger in battle, but off the battle tounge2.gif

Yeah, but just after a few hours of Flashpoint-experience, these CS-players has become really good.

Wish you all the best of luck, and if you need help.. Or OPFOR, count me in wink_o.gif

Thanks for the help JW, last night's training session lasted 10 hours! crazy_o.gif We played until 6 in the morning, having a go att spotting, indirect fire and camoflauge before we turned in.

Anyway, U_U and h3adache are the top of the bunch. They've learnt extremely much, h3adache has played quite a lot SP before (he's the only one) so I'd figured that make sense. However, U_U has really gotten into the game. A lot. Although he still isn't ready to take command, as we saw yesterday. wink_o.gif

Anyway, I will update the blog soonish, with screenies (thanks to Hornet85). smile_o.gif

h3adache and U_U rocked. Like they've played OFP a long time before..

Maybe they have... Hmm... crazy_o.gif

Nah, j/k, just for the record, I wouldn't mind these "CS-kiddies" to come along for ArmA.

hehe, just what i though, you can convert CS players even CS-kiddies to play OFP and kill OFP Veterans that play the game since the first version  tounge2.gif Actually i'm one of those people who moved from CS to OFP, and enjoy the game. But sometime i still start up CSS and play  yay.gif

Actually age doesn't matter(or some servers now ask for age and kick you if its not high enough?), there are people that are not kiddies but still mess around in OFP  crazy_o.gif  crazy_o.gif

I've always seen the term CS-kiddie not as an age but as a social group. People can be 25 years old and still be CS-kiddies, as long as they write "omg u |337 pwn h4x00r" or something like that.

EDIT: Blog updated.

Quite a good idea that, Jinnypoos. A good final exam would indeed be an a&d on Zeus. That being roughly two platoons of human led AI going at it with lots of tactical opportunity. Very good PvP tactical environment.

If you're going to teach them right up to tactics, we'd be more than happy to have them along at one of the Zeus nights. And if a few of them are feeling ambitious, we'd be happy to let them lead one or both sides :P

Read all three training sessions and it seems very interesting so far. I'll definately be keeping up with this thread smile_o.gif

Thanks for the offer, I will look into it. Unforunately, I have to go away the next week, and will be out of Flashpoint for seven days. It's not really my fault, it's my parents. So go ahead and spam my dad's e-mail. No seriously, do it, might change his mind. biggrin_o.gif

EDIT: Nevermind that. Let's just say I was very lucky this time. You gotta love bad weather, it can ruin all your plans, right? biggrin_o.gif

Had a great game tonite, the other guys are still going.

It was kinda cool when Hornet accidently crashed our chopper.

A big deal?

Nah, he survived.

We just had to walk from our pos to the base.

And the pos was south of Levie, and the base is the airfield (on Everon).

It was worth it, everyone survived. smile_o.gif

Great game, some players are getting better for the minute, some players just need some more training.

Regards

JW

I must say, you have a very nice project going on here Dmakatra! Are you using a spectator script btw? During my SWAF days I was in charge of basic combat training, and we had a lot of training maps at our disposal. It soon became apparent that in order to effectively evaluate the players' performance, the DI needed more perspective. Participating directly limits your possibilities of overseeing the entire op. A spectator script works very well to this end.

Incidentally, I would like to support Jinef's suggestion. If there's any place on the net where you can expect large scale tactical engagements, it's the Zeus server (gad, I think I should change my signature to Jinef's... Pimping Zeus has become one of my daily tasks as well). While most OFP missions limit the tactical possibilities due to spatial constraints (i.e. limited AO), Zeus missions usually put so much distance between the teams' starting points that any approach becomes a viable option. Are the defenders going to move up in order to intercept the attackers? Or will they pull back and fortify their positions? Will the attackers take a more direct route or flank the target, at the risk of running out of time? Will they create a diversion or bundle their forces into a single iron fist? The Zeus missions are the first to make full use of the enormous scale that the OFP engine has to offer. There is nothing more gratifying than anticipating the enemy's route and mining it, only to hear distant explosions and death screams 20+ minutes into the game smile_o.gif

Thanks for the warm comments and interest Xawery. This project has proved very successful so far. Not only have I managed to convert 6-7 (4 of them with big potential) CS-players to Flashpoint-fanatics, I've also been asked to do interviews for Swedish gaming websites and stuff. This is good, as one reason why I did this project was to fight prejudice and it wouldn't be worth nothing unless I reach out to the masses. I also feel like I'm famous and that's cool. biggrin_o.gif

As to your suggestion; just as before, we are not quite ready for a versus game any time soon. If you've read the latest blog-post you'll notice why. In versus games people die and if I kick the bucket there currently is no way in hell they'll do anything decent after that. I think we're getting ready for joint-ops soonish though, so I'll be contacting some squad leaders during the week. They can of course contact me as well. smile_o.gif

And one minor thing, dmakatra is spelt with a minor d. Sounds silly I know but it annoys me when people spell it with a major D because that sort of ruins the whole idea with the nick. tounge2.gif
