Assault (CAN) 1 Posted January 23, 2002 When I installed Red Hammer (from CD) I noticed a few problems with OFP. Especially in the Russian weapons area. 1. The PK now has a 30 round mag and works in semi-auto only 2. The Dragunov is now perfectly silent, it wasn't before. 3. My comp used to work fine with OFP, now its slower than the second coming of Christ when trying to run a mission Specs: Intel PII, 400 Mhz, 64 megs of RAM, 16x CD player, VooDoo 3 graphics card. jimz0rz 0 Posted January 23, 2002 It probably reset your preferences. Launch it again and click autodetect and then reconfiguire the advanced options. As for the 30 round PK and the silent SVD - I would just do a clean install of OFP & RH. Sounds like something f***** up bigtime during the red hammer install. Did you have anything other program running during the install? If so, that might corrupted it. And if that dont work you've got a dodgy CD, just get it replaced. muzzmuzz 1 Posted January 24, 2002 Hummmmm sounds like a classic case of PC slowdown syndrome. All PC's after large installs and deletes of files over 1gb or above always experience slows down even if they are 1.8ghz AMD beasts with a Geforce III. The best proven method of stopping this problem is a ScadDisk and Defrag every 2 months and an update of all major drivers, maybe even a Drive Format if its not to much trouble. 400mhz and a Voodoo 3 though are no longer a great gaming combination. Maybe an upgrade to a Geforce II and 800mhz would be a good choice if you don't want to go overboard on upgrade costs. I've found Window XP experinces less slowdowns than 98 and ME so this could maybe an idea for you. As for your weapon problems I've had none myself. Assault (CAN) 1 Posted January 24, 2002 Thanks for the replies so far. I just did a de-frag two weeks ago but it didn't seem to help much. Do you guys think that it is possible that any of the unnoficial addons might have created the problem?(as Gimbal stated) If so, how do I know if they are bad? Also, I have tried getting rid of the splash previews before the game starts but to no avail. Heres what my target looks like : "C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\OPERATIONFLASHPOINT.EXE" -nosplash Could anyone copy/paste their target that works so that I can use it? But since you are upgrading from your system, might I suggest you to go for P4 or ant 1Ghz ones? 512RAM, GF3? Afterall, spending money does come with better performance, and next upgrade will be long time away if you upgrade to P4 or similar. Assault (CAN) 1 Posted January 25, 2002 I called my computer guy today, I would like to get a 1ghz+ processor and 128 or 256mb of RAM and in the future a new graphics card. Remove the "" that seems to be the only difference between yours and mine........ Well, I tried that and the comp would not accept it. It only works with the " " in place. Assault (CAN) 1 Posted January 31, 2002 Well, I got around to doing a complete re-install of OFP yesterday. I removed all of the unnoficial addons and missions and voila! It is not nearly as slow as before. The Dragunov is no longer silent, the PK is now on full-auto w/ a 100 round box. Sweet! Does anyone know what addon might have caused this?
