Ukraineboy 0 Posted May 9, 2006 I have read all the interviews I could and I only saw information of the Northern Sahrani and Southern Sahrani forces (with some Americans). But, will there be Russian/Soviet forces in with the Northern Sahrani forces? I know that Northern Sahrani forces use Soviet equipment, but will there be actual Russian soldiers and forces on the island?
Antichrist 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Knowing BIS, I'd say that most likely we'll see something like that. Probably not openly, but in terms of "military consultants".
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted May 9, 2006 Plus you can bet your life on it the addon makers won't be far behind... looking forward to seeing the Russian Federation's military might in AA.
PartizanasLT 0 Posted May 9, 2006 I think that russian soldiers will be in the game. Its only a gues, but in my opinion the russian federation will help & support the north side by sending there its soldiers ect. One of the bigest things that i hope to see, is russians talk russian language, i mean radio chater, not only the cutsceans. Speaking russian with english subtitles, that would be perfect. ntokarek 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Well seeing as this game was basically based around russian, you can almost bet that russians will be used in some sort of way even if its not a bit use, they will be there
EiZei 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Uhh.. why would the russian federation be so keen on wasting their limited resources on some backwater commie regime and pissing the USA off?
Ukraineboy 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Uhh.. why would the russian federation be so keen on wasting their limited resources on some backwater commie regime and pissing the USA off? Why would USA waste their time with some backwater monarchist dictatorship? Anyways, how do we even know that in the games storyline, USSR doesnt still exist? Also..limited resources? They have plenty of resources to send Spetsnaz or VDV or even Morskaya Pekhota. Dont talk about things you dont know about
Ukraineboy 0 Posted May 10, 2006 I was just watching the other video (the russian one) and you can distinctly see Russian VDV in it. They are the ones who parachute from the Hind. You can see it by the distinct Blue Berets. Maybe Russian Federation sent in "volunteers" like they did in Serbia? (Yeltsin sent 60,000 "volunteers" to fight for Serbian side). Also the chatbox says "TARGET SPETSNAZ". Yes! definately! Russians in the game, atleast with Spetsnaz!
guyguy1 0 Posted May 10, 2006 that was an old build from long ago and BI may not have implemented the radio chatter correctly at the time. I doubt there will be russians on an island in the Atlantic, and by now i think that they changed the "Spetznatz" to something else.

No, I can distinctly HEAR them with the NEW voices say TARGET SPETSNAZ 1 O CLOCK. Plus. In OFP, they spelt it wrong (they spelt it Spetz natz). In this video they spelt it correctly, so they deifnately are in. Also there is no reason that Russians couldnt be in Atlantic. Russians are still very friendly with their old ally Cuba and even have a base there (But they may have closed it recently, cant remember). This could be the same thing, Northern Sahrani could be old friend of USSR, USSR collapses and Russia later keeps on selling weaponry to Northern Sahrani, then later becomes VERY friendly and sends Spetsnaz and advisors. Also, reason why is just influence...Russia doesnt want to be seen as an American pushover, so they will support their old allies. Ofcourse not "officially"

And they used Elite stuff in that build I really hope that BIS will release the Elite stuff later on though... ÉdÃt: Woops, I missed GBee's post

I still see no reason why there won't be Russians, reason being is the Blue Beretted Spetsnaz. Northern Sahrani Forces would not have blue beretted special forces...BIS would never give such a confusing and indictive mark of the VDV to Northern Sahrani forces. I am still confident that there will be Russians there in the form of Special Forces. I bet you they wont even tell us when the game is released, I bet it's a plot point as in "oh my god! dun dun dun, the Russians are helping the northern forces". GBee 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Those models are also from OFP:Elite
Ukraineboy 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Those models are also from OFP:Elite So? ARMA is OFP 1.5. They could very well be using the same models.
Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 11, 2006 ArmA is a new game ffs Btw, I think there will be some kind of Spetsnaz troops in ArmA. We know that the DRS is a communist dictatorship. And what is a communist dictatorship if it hasn't got it's very own Spetsnaz?
Ukraineboy 0 Posted May 11, 2006 ArmA is a new game ffs Its not ENTIRELY new. It could very well use OFP:E models. You're confusing ArmA with Game 2.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted May 11, 2006 Those models are also from OFP:Elite   So? ARMA is OFP 1.5. They could very well be using the same models. No, they said they were placeholders some time ago (And they wouldnt fit with those new US soldiers anyway  )
GBee 0 Posted May 11, 2006 OFP:E models would look ugly compared to the new models being created for Arma. They just wouldn't re-use the old stuff. The early builds of Arma, from which the videos were taken used the OFP:E models as placeholders. Those spetnaz models have probably already been replaced with North Sahrani spec ops models. Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 11, 2006 I know very well what Game2 is and what ArmA is.. They will not use Elite stuff due to a number of reasons. Copyright is one of them. "I rest my case"

And what is a communist dictatorship if it hasn't got it's very own Spetsnaz? There might be some kind of SPECIAL FORCES, but there wont be Spetsnaz or called that...Sahrani is an island in the atlantic, and Im pretty sure it isnt Russian or Slavic in any way. Spetsnaz, when translated fully (Spetsnaz is a semi abbreviation or w/e) means Troops of Special Purpose. They wouldnt call their special forces in another language. Anyways I still have confidence Russians or Soviets will make an appearance in this game...as the other person mentioned, probably with advisors. And the reason we don't know about it, if any reason, is probably because like I said if it's in it would be a plotpoint. Probably a twist, i.e. main character finds dead russian soldiers or something and dun dun dun, Russians are involved.
PartizanasLT 0 Posted May 12, 2006 There will definitly be russians. This would give a game more spirit. Who wants to fight USA ws NORTH SAHRI or woreva... that doesnt sound well. USA vs RUSSIA That sounds !!! Noone is going to sell a product wich is obout a war that doesnt sound.... USA vs RUSSIA - The classics never die !
Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 12, 2006 Indeed. "Damn, the russians are supporting the DRS, this could turn into WWIII"
Wass 1 Posted May 12, 2006 Only one is bad... Game's with "good russians" never don't be sell in Europe and USA. It more gainful - to make game with "evil russians"
echo1 0 Posted May 14, 2006 how do we even know that in the games storyline, USSR doesnt still exist? Judging by the equipment in the videos and screenshots, the game seems to be set in the present. Now, as far as I can remember the USSR doesnt exist anymore
