The-Architect 0 Posted May 7, 2006 I dug up this old mission and tweaked it a little. It needs a run through. There are quite a few addons needed but I know that'll only deter a few people. It is worth it. As long as you read the readme and make sure you don't play it with any mods on, it could possibly be one of the finest desert themed missions you'll play. Here are some screens, Addon list, Andersson's Backpack ~ http://www.downloads.thechainofcommand.net/addons.htm BAS Delta Rangers ~ http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=6162 JAM 3 ~ http://www.ofpec.com/addons/JAM.php Blackblood's SAS ~ http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=8690 PUKF Landrover WMIK ~ http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=8669 PUKF Landrover Pack ~ http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=7251 RKSL UK Camo nets. Here is some info on the mission. Operating behind enemy lines, your SAS team has noticed convoys going to and from Mazar e Sharif. Your command thinks that they have something to do with the Taliban attacks on coalition aircraft. The Taliban have been firing portable SAMs and it is thought that they are Stingers left over from the Soviet conflict. It would be a fine thing if the Taliban claimed a coalition aircraft kill with a Stinger so your team has been ordered to seek out a possible weapons cache in the town and destroy it. A secondary objective is to take out a AAA site South East of Mazar e Sharif. Misssion features: Random sandstorm Random wildlife Tracer script Satellite imagery Smoke and fire scripts Side quest Different endings And much more The amount weapons available to use are vast. The SAS team is fully equipped with just about anything you think you'd need from the normal Flashpoint stuff, Compass and GPS, to an arsenal of weapons and equipment which you can carry with you. Both the Landrovers are stocked up with LAWs, Minimis, PE4 sticks, Smokeshells, Grenades and ammo. Some of your team members have Bergans which are filled with all sorts, including, a Laser Designator, PE4 sticks, Handgrenades and various ammo. You will feel like you could take on a division with all that kit. The mission takes me 2 hours to complete. For those of you who don't like a lot of walking, don't worry. You have vehicles to drive around in. Coalition air power is also available but obviously not until you've sorted out the cache. That's enough talk. Here's the file. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7SIX6E94 Cheers for your time. The-Architect.
lendrom 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Sounds good. Despite the big number of required addons i'm going to give it a try when i have some free time later this week...(month? year?)... From what i've seen in Deep Water (which is one of my favorite missions for OFP) you can make a very good use of user created addons. I'm tired with a lot of good addons with no missions for them and some good missions that are not using any addons at all. And one more thing... I think using General Barron's Hand Signals could add a lot to your missions.
rellikki 7 Posted May 8, 2006 Where can I get OFPEC blood addon ? The link doesn't work since OFPEC is down.
The-Architect 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Sorry man I overlooked that bit. Get it here. http://www.freewebs.com/ofpbob/addons.htm Main chunk changed too to fix a couple of other addon issues..
cornhelium 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Thanks The-Architect, Will definitely be giving this one a go, as soon as time allows. Some top-notch addons there. Good to see the VITAPC pack still in use Cheers, CH
lendrom 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Isn't the OFPEC Blood included in the mission zip? (Yes it is ) I tried it a bit and run into missing addon problem (i can see you provided a link for it now - it was ch47 btw is chinook's British codename 'puma' as in your post?). I tried a mission but i must say i get a lot of lag. The script for reducing viewdistance seemed to work but i still had 5 - 10 fps. More reports when i will play it a bit more. The-Architect 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Well spotted, link changed. Lag? It is a big mission, what are your specs?
Big Nasty 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Very nice mission. Especially liked the ambient sounds around the desert. I think I even heard wailing Afghans as I approached the town. The explosion of the ammo dump was very stunning. Nice touch there. I didn't find the side quest you mentioned though. Although I am only at the aircraft gun place at the moment. I will finish tomorrow. Big Nasty out.
lendrom 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Lag? It is a big mission, what are your specs? My computer isnt that bad. It's Athlon2800@3200, 1GB ram, radeon9600. And i'm running OFP with only those addons that are needed for the mission. Anyway i'll try it again when i'm back home.
The-Architect 0 Posted May 9, 2006 I don't know them mate. Has anyone else got trouble with lag?
rellikki 7 Posted May 9, 2006 Has anyone else got trouble with lag? Me. Maybe try adding some fog to the mission? It eliminates lag.
The-Architect 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Manually bring your viewdistance down.

burroughs 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Cheers. I don't know if you can remember but I am one of the guys who answered your post about a closed beta test that had been advertised at OFPEC forum last autumn to be closed eventually due to the forum restrictions. You snt me the previous version via e - mail. Thanks a lot! Obviosly I played the mission then and tried to give you some co,mments on that - I can remember sending you a private message with some feedback but I can hardly recall whether you replied or not. Well, glad that you finally completed and I am certainly going to give it a go as it is truly one of the greatest mission I have ever played. Although I haven't appproached it seriosly yet, I launched it a few times and managed to observe a funy bug; when playing around with the wonderful SAS addon - lowering goggles, getting the sleeves down etc., using sattellite uplink - I get messages that ammo caches gets destroyed and the mission saves the progress automatically. Would it be another SAS patrol operating in the AO, completing exactly the same objectives? I guess not ...
The-Architect 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Get the new version burroughs. I think I had the dump blow automatically in some early versions. Anyone given it a full going over yet? There is a side quest if the A10 pilot is shot down. Anyone seen that bit?
burroughs 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Not that easy as it seems ... I am absolutely sure that I launched the new version as I have it installed in a separate folder so as not to replace the old one with that. Actually I think that I might as well try to launch it once again now just to see what happens this time. I'll let you know soon. Take care.
burroughs 0 Posted May 11, 2006 BTW, I just remembered that while watching the intro I noticed that Chinook used for insertion of the team had RAF emblems - therefore I dre to insist that I must have been trying the NEW version, huh? ... Anyway, on the way to get the job done and then we'll see.
burroughs 0 Posted May 11, 2006 Alright, looks like it was a kind of a phenomenon; I spent some time scanning the area via satellite uplink, moving my men to their guard posts and checking the horizon with my binoculars and finally getting the equipment and stuff ready - nothing like a report on destroying the ammo chache came. I'll find out what happens next later on. Got to get busy with my daily grind right now.

The-Architect 0 Posted July 15, 2006 The Megaupload link does work. Could someone provide a mirror for this guy? Cheers.
Placebo 29 Posted August 8, 2006 There's a handy app for downloading from all these "ticket" sites such as Rapidshare or Megaupload, called Universal Share Downloader it doesn't cheat the websites it just automates the waiting process which seems fair enough to me, website is in Russian but it's easy to see what you need (main program + languages + plugins). Anyways here's a mirror of the Stinger mission: Stinger
