the_shadow 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Hi... i didnt find a resonably new thread about this so i start a new one... last Friday i got a new motherboard as my old one died on me... and instantly i got 2 problems with OFP... 1st, Game freezes and then the computer reboots... this without any consistant reason (can be ANY addon ANYTIME, no special conditions at all) this is my biggest problem right now.. my motherboard is a Gigabyte K8 Triton AGP 8X/DDR400 and im using a Radeon 9800 SE graphics card on a AGP 8X socket with the latest Omega drivers. the CPU is a AMD Athlon 64bit 3000+ 2Ghz. i BELIVE the motherboard has a VIA based (or maybe NVIDIA) chipset (ULi M1689) i never had a problem even similar to this with my old motherboard so i dont have even the slightest clue on what may be causing the problem... my 2nd problem is sound related.... i use a Onboard AC97 soundcard in 5.1 configuration and when i start insade a vehicle (for example) and starts the engine i dont hear any sound, but if i switch to 3rd person view and then back i have the sound.... this also happens in cut scenes and some other occasions... also, sometimes the sound is a loud squeek instead of whatever sound it should be, but that is also fixed by switching view. anyone got a solution for that? i had a slightly similar problem with my old soundblaster live 24bit soundcard (wich i know is known to have a few issues with OFP) i do appreciate any kind of help and i think i can give more info if needed.... Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 1, 2006 I had the first problem a few times in the past. Overheating.
the_shadow 0 Posted May 1, 2006 overheating isnt my problem as the CPU has a temperature at about 30 degrees after 6-8h of constant working.... (had about 43 degrees on the old Motherboard so it has improved the cooling even though i have the same fan and everything)
the_shadow 0 Posted May 2, 2006 the problem seams to have been solved by chaning from AGP 8X to AGP 4X. no performance hit has been noticed this far. all other games seams to run with this setting too. nevermind, i found it... this is my DxDiag.txt file.... someone might be able to find something in there, myself i just dont have even the slightest clue of what to look for... Placebo 31 Posted May 6, 2006 Please don't post DX Diag extracts, it fills the thread with an excessive amount of useless information, manually post a list of your system specs and driver versions.
