Sitting on top of vehicle after getting in

In one thread I read a post from FetishFool, in which he wrote how to easily reproduce the MP bug that many people reported, sitting on top of vehicle:

This thread for more information). Thanks to this information, we were able to reproduce the problem and hopefully we will be able to provide a fix.

Until we fix it, you may avoid seeing this bug by carefully using following procedure to get in:

1) Make sure all movement keys are released before you start mounting the vehicle.

2) Activate "Get in ... vehicle" action.

3) Wait until your character gets in - do not press any movement keys. Getting in may take long especially when network is slow.

Be patient. When you will press any movement key during the get-in animation or after it, you will see your character moving on top of the vehicle.

I remember the days when people would say "Hopefully someone at BIS is reading this, too." but with no replies.

Anyways.

There's a few bugs involving pressing buttons while during an event.

A very rare one is when someone will take over an enemy body.

This happens when someone presses a button right as the respawn process is happening.

This is major, because the only way the person will get out of the body is by exiting the game.  Which means that they have to wait for the next round to play.

I was playing at a server when 3 guys got this bug, at the same time.  2 of them respawned normally about 5 minutes later.  But one guy was stuck in someone else's alive body.

1 of the 3 guys wasn't able to respawn properly after that.  He said that his original body had to be "destroyed" in order for him to respawn.

I don't know what one guy meant by "destroyed". But I knew that it was because at least 2 of them pressed a button before while respawning.

had something like that when me and another guy tried to get into the gunner seat of a T55 at the same time.

I could see him in 1st person view and if i went to 3rd i was in the ocean :/ had to reboot to get rid of it

Here's how to reproduce the bug...I've done it several times myself, but I think it requires a certain amount of lag as well. basically if you and another person try to get in a vehicle in any position at the same time, the server will normally recognize this, and one of you ends up standing outside the vehicle without having gotten in. sometimes, though with server lag, the server lets both people in the vehicle, but only one is really in control of the vehicle. The other person is left standing outside the vehicle but their point of view is the person who actually controls the vehicle. The way I've solved this is to immediately kill the person who didn't make it.

For example, last night while playing, a guy and I both tried getting in the OH58 at the same time as pilot. I got in, but he didn't. HE still thought he was in though, because on his computer, it looked like he was in, but he couldn't control anything because he was actually seeing things through my character's eyes. After figuring out that this had happened, I killed him and he respawned normally.

It's a big deal, but just don't try to beat someone to a vehicle or you're likely to have this happen. That's why if I see someone going for the same spot I am in a vehicle, I let them take it unless I'm way ahead of them. It just isn't worth it to have to take a chance of restarting since you can't join while the game is going.

I have not shared body with anyone i OFP, but last time we had MP OFP party I was able to mount a T80 when the east AI crew was standing outside. 1 sec after I got inside I was part of a East/West team. The T80 had got one East commander and one West driver. I was unable to change my position, but I could drive over all East guy's I was abel to locate. When I got out the tank, my East crew did the same. I got inside again, I'm sorry but my ex commander was unlucky when he somhow was joined with the surronding.

The odd thing, when all was over. I had zero kills.

One other thing. The "Oh 2 is down" ... and so on is no fun, get rid of the message after it is told over 5 times.

Why can AI crew join a T80 with you, when you are hindred from doing the same, if they got in first?

Actually it is possible for two human players from opposite teams to get into one vehicle...at least it was in previous versions of OF. I'm not sure about now. Basically one had to get in vehicle in back and one got in as driver, but you had to do it at the same time or else it wouldn't work.

It's also very hard to reproduce, depending on lag.

Yeah, I got a chock of 5000V when I first experienced this. wink.gif It hasn't happened too many times though, very seldom, almost never.

This other thing that this thread's really about, when you get on top of a vehicle, I just get out from it and get in again. No problem.

i found a way to sit on a tank put in castle in editor and place storage hut next to the slope leading to castle entrance walk up slope and then walk on to the roof jump down on to the tank ps make sure your place tank or any other unit next to hut
