Or wait, how about this:

When u die, you respawn on that island in the lake in the middle of the new island, with nothing but motorcycles and a ramp. You can get off the island if you use a motorcycle to jump the water! However, you have to hit the ramp at the right speed; too fast and you'll miss the landing ramp and crash and die; to slow and you'll land in the water. And every time the map is played, the ramp is moved back or front so the person has to figure out the right speed to get to the other side.

Then when you make it off the island, you can rearm and go on and join the rest of your alive buddies.

Well, technically, with the new Kegetys spectator script, almost everything is possible.

The idea of having a "game in the game" is fun, you can even give the choice to dead players : set respawn to a respawn area on a little island, when player is dead, activate the spectator script so that they can watch their buddies, but add a button "Deathmatch!", which will close the spectator window, transport them to another island, which will be used as a mini deathmatch map, and gogogo. You can even add some way to revert back to the spectator script, when they get bored of fragging all the way.

Or you can implement a group respawn, which will occur only when all group members are dead, or when certain conditions are met (area occupied, trucks destroyed, etc....). The key is that, when within the spectator script, the player is stuck and cannot move. He is truly dead. Stopping the script will "respawn" the player, and you can do this whenever you want. No more of automatic respawn or no respawn at all. We have any choice we want, now.
