codarl 1 Posted March 4, 2006 how much does all of that costs?! "GPU: 2x 7800 GTX 512MB " Unless you're rendering for 3Dmax I dont think it'l help you allot in games... could be wrong though . EDIT: and I hope that motherboard has two 16X PCIx slots, or you wont be using one card to the max (assumign they use 16X speed)
martinovic 0 Posted March 4, 2006 Well, i don't know, my computer could run anything i threw at it so far, on max usually, so i don't plan on upgrading. Got about "half" of what you'll have, except for the RAM, of which i have only 512 MB (but it's RDRAM, runs on 1066Mhz frequency opposed to DDR which runs at around 400 Mhz best last i heard). I'm waiting for "breakthroughs" in computer science, cause i'm poor ya know.
imported_bör 0 Posted March 4, 2006 My XP2000+, Radeon 9600XT and 512RAM will render ArmA in sufficent framerates, just like any other game. I'll most likely upgrade for game2, but that'll take some time till its release.
IceDude 0 Posted March 4, 2006 dont know the exact price yet but im thinking somewhere arround 7.000€ . no idea yet tho. i havent made that list since im not that much into pc hardware. my m8 made it, think it should be ok. il ask him just in case tho
berghoff 11 Posted March 4, 2006 Go ahead and waste money on 2 7800 GTX 512mb (are they even avialable, I thought they were limited ?(the 512mb version)). For ArmA LOL, you won't even need 1 one those. I'm already ready for 3 years. Amd 64 3000+ 9800pro 128mb and 1,5 gb ram. :P
Mr_Tea 0 Posted March 4, 2006 I`m fine with my System and don`t plan to buy new Graphic Hardware only to have 256MB Video Ram. My 6600GT with 128MB RAM must be enough, and should be enough for ARMA. Even F.E.A.R. runs fine with that Card, with DX9 effects enabled.
Guest Ti0n3r Posted March 4, 2006 Im going to get 2gb of ram and a new gfx card for ArmA. Right now I have a geforce 6600gt, wich I would classify as crap. I intend to run this game with everything maxed up without any fps drop :p
colt 0 Posted March 4, 2006 To be honest, if I was in your postition I'd wait unitl ArmA was fully released and you had a copy in your hands (or a demo at least). Don't forget that the engine should be far more optimised and it could run very well on your current system. Another advantage to waiting is that the price of those components could drop, so even if the game runs choppy on your current rig, you can still go and buy your system but maybe save some cash. Placebo 29 Posted March 4, 2006 There are enough PC upgrade threads in OT without there being any need at all for another one.
