W0lle 1050 Posted February 18, 2006 Wow, that are really impressive screenshots. Can't wait to have it in my addonfolder
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted February 18, 2006 Sorry to bother you, but would you consider making your objects a standalone after the island is released? That way they can be used in woodland islands as well... Looking excellent.
Sgt Anderson 0 Posted February 18, 2006 there will be 3 files - Bahadur.pbo (island) Bahdur_g.pbo (ground textures, runways, etc) and Bahadur_o.pbo (containing all of the objects/buildings etc) Most objects will be for Middle Eastern islands (houses, apartments, trees, some bushes, but I guess the stuff like fences, walls, field crops, some bunkers, military buildings and other objects, industrial/commercial structures, airport and accecories will be allright to use for woodland maps. I should mention that the version that ships with the Operation Trident mod will have its own mod folder, custom editor graphics, new compass, watch, main menu screen, new fonts, new sky and rain effect, and also have a full campaign (geared towards realistic operations which some may find to be boring)

Sgt Anderson 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Sounds great. I love realistic operations, OFP islands are meant to be used for this purpose. Could you list the required addons that will be used for your Mod. K, the island itself will not req ANY addons made by the community. No more AGS, Barracken etc. However.... The campaign project is about a coalition of countries moving into the country. Many addons will be req'd for the campaign, but will likely be included in the mod folder similar to Vietnam-The Experience, FFUR, or any of those other projects. Heres the story line so far... The Coup At 5:30 p.m., in the afternoon of October 10th, while just outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ali 'Joseph' Tadu, the newly re-elected President of Bahadur and member of the Pro-Democratic Progressive Party, was assassinated after attending a cabinet meeting with his Chief of Foreign Affairs Minister Nagi Benjiamin. Two gunmen were pursued and later shot dead by Bahadur security forces shortly after a failed escape attempt by the gunmen. Later that same day at approximately 7:45 p.m., a Division size force of Arahad militia fighters along with three Battalion size forces of the Bahadur Red Brigade staged a coup d'e tat against the pro-democratic government regime of Ali Tadu, effectivley seizing control of Bahadur island within a matter of hours. The remaining Battalion size force still loyal to the Tadu regime was immediately disbanded and escaped into the civilian population. The Politics President Tadu's Pro-Democratic Progressive Party had won the last election on Sept 23rd by an extremely narrow margin and this inspired already festering rumors of widespread corruption in the election process and elicited special criticism of Tadu's government supporters. Tadu's party was introducing democratic reforms to the country's political system, to include open trade agreements with western nations. These new reforms were met with fierce resistance from Tadu's main opposition party - Arahad. According to allied sources, the vast majority of Arahad's members and supporters are political right wing extremist with well-known ties to global terrorism and who favor a much more fundamental and closed border approach to government rule. Their hatred for the "corrupted" West is both common and evident among party members who stage regular flag burning demonstrations with emphasis on NATO countries but with special hatred reserved for the U.S. and Britain. Ironically, the Arahad Party is a contradiction in and of itself, since it would seem that the organization is mainly interested in keeping it's own illegal operations secret from the rest of the world. It's been well documented for a decade now that the Arahad organization profits from drug and weapon sales through their eastern air and sea port. This is the reason that their own military is disproportionately large and well equiped for an island country of less than 600 Km^2 (600 square kilometers). It's also well-known that Bahadur is rich in uneploited mineral reserves and has attracted much foriegn interest in recent years. Unfortunately for the Tadu regime, it's policy of political openness and crack-down on illegal secret activities would have meant the end for the Arahad money machine. Faced with this prospect the Arahad leadership began a campaign of "self-righteous" rhetoric to wage war against the Tadu administration and curry favor with it's own people in order to increase it's ranks and further tighten it's hold on Bahadur. Now the ranks of the Arahad Party are increasing everyday as new recruits are indoctrinated as "Holy Warriors", believing without a doubt that what they are doing is "Just" and "Noble". The Response Due to the secrecy and efficiency of the coup, there was little time to prepare for the evacuation of western citizens and private contractors. In the hours after the coup, most western citizens managed to make it to various "safe zones" outside of Bahadur or to other hidden locations within Bahadur hosted by Tadu Loyalist. In fact, a few civilians were able to leave the island by boat and reach a U.S. Marine base (Camp Tripoli) 90 nautical miles SW of Bahadur. These individuals were able to provide allied forces with valuable intelligence about the Arahad occupation force and it's collusion with Red Brigrade Regular and Special Forces. October 11 (Phase I)-Due to the political and unstable nature of this region of the world, discrete evacuation operations to move out trapped or captured western and pro-democratic civillians from the island of Bahadur began early in the morning on October 11th by the soldiers, marines, private security contractors and Tadu loyalist that were already in the area when the coup occurred. They provided a limited Covert/Defensive response in these crucial first days while the U.N. Security Council convened an emergency session on this matter. This coup is of special concern to western nations since the U.S., Britain and France were providing technology and support so that Bahadur could build it's first nuclear reactor in exchange for it's open market trade policy with the West! While Bahadur does not currently have fissionable material on the island it did procure a Gas-Centrifuge from France as part of the technology exchange program between Bahadur and it's Western allies. Western concerns now focus on whether or not the Arahad Party can come up with the small amount of low-grade fissionable material needed to make a "dirty bomb". Given the effectiveness of the Arahad network to move on and off the island despite being constantly monitored, the threat is a serious one. October 23rd-Concerned that the Arahad movement could gain widespread support from neighboring countries and further solidify it's hold on Bahadur, U.S. and British forces begin an unprecedented rapid military build-up off the coast of Bahadur with one objective in mind, restore stability and reinstate the elected party back to power in Bahadur. This flotilla of coalition ships would now participate under the auspicious mission codename "Operation Trident". While the Arahad threat is a very serious one, NATO also recognizes the soveriegnty of Bahadur and the internal nature of the crisis, therefore, a coalition involving several NATO countries will be needed to legitimately intervene in the affairs of an independent and sovereign nation like Bahadur without provoking a "rallying cry" from other middle eastern nations. November 1 (Phase II)-With the arrival of the 5th U.S. Naval Carrier Group headed by the U.S.S. Nimitz and further escorted by several vessels from Great Britain. U.S. and British forces begin a Covert/Offensive campaign in preparation for full-scale military operations set for November 28th, with or without the approval of the U.N. Security Council! November 28 (Phase III)-With the threat of a "Dirty Bomb" growing with each passing day Overt/Offensive full scale military operations begin! A coalition of U.S., British, French, German and Australian troops march on Bahadur, while other NATO nations provide support in more subtle ways! Date TBA (Phase IV)-Relief and Reconstruction - While the threat of the Red Brigade is all but defeated the threat to coalition troops continues as they enter into this new phase of warfare that, in many ways, is more dangerous than all the previous phases put together. While the threat of foriegn fighters is minimal, the threat of local fanatics that blend seemlessly with the local population is very high. Coalition forces now face IED's, guerrilla style attacks and ambushes that cause maximum damage in the shortest time possible and attacks from within the newly reconstituted Bahadur Army and Security forces. An active underground of diehard militia and defeated BAF now mainly comprise a newly reinvigorated insurgency force on the island of Bahadur. Proposal: OPERATION TRIDENT Rapid deployment of Coalition forces to the country of Bahadur. Mission: -restore stability to the country of Bahadur -help return the Democratic Progressive Party to power -restore Coalition interests Operation Trident is the coalitions codename for the military intervention on the island of Bahadur. I dont know what the rules around here are regarding recruitment but if you're interested in doing some missions on the development team, get in touch! CameronMcDonald 146 Posted February 19, 2006 Pity you're not using regular infantry, still, better the Marines than noone (jks - I'm just a big fan of the US Regs). What units are likely to be involved? I'd love to write some missions for your island + campaign, but I'm currently a tad busy writing some for my own lil mod (selfish, I know) and waiting for those dang ACU textures to come out. Sgt Anderson 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Heres a link to our Standardized Unit List (Work In Progress). As we begin to make missions using German/UK/Other nations we will add to the list. http://operation-trident.net/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted February 19, 2006 Nice to see you're using ORCS weapons. Although might be a good idea to put RHS in there too - for variety? List is looking good. Good luck with the campaign.
Sgt Anderson 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Thanks for the support. I would like to add that the Bahadur Armed Forces that were in the works were based on RedHammerStudios Russian Motorized Infantry (with permission) but unfortunatley Im not sure if we'll use the unitpack Ive been working on (for technical reasons and several bugs that have suddenly shown up). I have plans on using DMA Euro/Russian guerillas as the basis for the Bahadur Armed Forces and elite "Red Brigade" now. I will quickly be doing up new classes and textures before the release. ag_smith 0 Posted February 20, 2006 The palm trees and vegetation look nice, but the building textures could use some weathering and such...
Wilco 944 Posted February 20, 2006 Here, use these if you want. Â I just made it a few minutes ago.
Sgt Anderson 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Thanks for the suggestions guys:) One thing though, I need my textures to be tileable so I kept details on the texture maps to a minimum. Ive got so many objects to texture that I just cant spare the time to do a real good job on individual buildings, Wilco - are you interested in doing up a 6 pack of building textures (interior/exteriors)?
Wilco 944 Posted February 20, 2006 Six pack? Six textures or what?
Sgt Anderson 0 Posted February 20, 2006 sorry for the vague desc. 5 more diff building exterior textures (color variations or pattern), plus the top one you posted earlier would be awsome and would be a big help. Credit would be given ofcourse:)
