Monkey Lib Front

Insurgency Mod For HL2

AK comments aside, the recoil is ridiculous.

Yes they work, but they dont work properly, to have the recoil flipping your view 90 degrees upwards in 5-10 shots is just crazy, hell, having the recoil flip your view 90 degrees upwards AT ALL is crazy. Its just not right.

I tried it for about 30 minutes and i liked what i saw, except for the horribly linear maps (Maybe im spoiled after OFP and ArmA, but it really annoys me).

Overal the gameplay is nice, and the weapon sounds are absolutely awesome, this is what ArmA is supposed to sound like! smile_o.gif

Ive just played it, wow the maturity of the guys i was playing with, it was like cover me, hold Obj B, here they come, and we stuck together supporting eachother and what not, i definatly prefer this over Counter strike or other realism mods such as Army ops.

Maybe cause you have it set at full auto instead of semi :O?

i haven't played this, but should an m4 rifle really have that much recoil or kick for anybody?

Nope, I'm well in control of the firemodes.

My point is not player ability (I've learnt to control it now) but that for a mod which claims to be realistic, the recoil handling is FAR from it.

Even with it on full auto, to have the recoil model shooting your view 90 degrees upwards is just wrong. Anyone who has fired a weapon knows this...

(Its the same with machineguns in stuff like CoD, where it is purposefully done to "force" people to deploy bipods)

Nope... this much recoil on a 556 weapon could be expected if you were shooting it one handed, or had a really limp grip on the weapon when you pulled the trigger, but to send the view screaming off towards the sky is just crazy talk...

Already a sound mod is almost finished that quite frankly strips the pants of ARMA with Highly realistic Close and Distant Weapon sounds, and animations.

whoa after playing this game i don't even care about arma anymore. if a game made on free time w/ unpaid devs can be so good i don't get how arma turned out so terrible.

It's not a game it's a MOD. The core of it was still made by VALVE, a professional developer and as with any mod, the changes made by the INS team to the engine are rather superficial.

I don't think the work done by the INS team in changing a few of the gameplay dynamics in the HL2 engine is any way comparable to the overhaul BIS gave OFP:E's engine in making ArmA. Nor is making a multiplayer mod for a linear FPS game comparable to a dynamic SP/MP game like ArmA.

I'm not knocking the team who made it, it's a nicely done mod even though it's not really my cup of tea; I stopped playing it fairly quickly, (I prefer Red Orchestra as an MPFPS since the maps are much larger, you can play against more people and shooting's more of a challenge). However, the work they've done is small in comparison to that of any game developer.
