poppi 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Hi, I've recently replaced my old 17''-CRT (analogue) with a new 17''-TFT (DVI). Everything works fine execpt of OFP. Either it locks up immediately after being started or it crashes when I select a mission or a campaign (producing no logfile...). I've tried different resolutions, different settings, different (and older) drivers and haven't got a clue. Even did also a complete reinstallation of the game, which didn't help a bit. Has anybody here got any idea? I'm getting rather frustrated. I want my Flashpoint back...

Guest RKSL-Rock Posted January 26, 2006 This sounds like a driver problem - try updating your Graphics card's drivers.
poppi 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Please post more hardware information. At this point i think the problem could be driver related. Well, as I stated, I already tried a couple of drivers, even older ones as recommended in other threads. My configuration: Athlon XP 2800+ Geforce 5600 (using the X-Treme G Drivers v81.97) 1024 MB RAM Asrock K7VT4A Pro Bios Rev. 1.50 Benq FP71E+ DVI TFT @ 1280x1024 @ 60 Hertz OFP worked flawlessly with my old CRT till a few days before. I just changed the display. Maybe the problem is related to the resolution and the refresh rate. I used to play at 1024x768 at 85 Hz. Except of the resolution I didn't change my drivers setup - except that I switched off manual overclocking of my video card. But this didn't help either... Tigershark_BAS 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Have you tried (if possible) plugging your monitor into a non DVI plug in the card (does it have 2 ports VGA/DVI?)
poppi 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Have you tried (if possible) plugging your monitor into a non DVI plug in the card (does it have 2 ports VGA/DVI?) Yes, it does. I'll try later. But I've made some progress. It seems to be a DirectX-related problem. In the "normal" Direct3D mode the game runs fine, while it locks up with HW T&L enabled. I'll check out the related threads... Thanks anyway!
william1 0 Posted January 26, 2006 i thought that all the TFT screens work at 75 MHz max , maybe there is the problem
poppi 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Have you tried (if possible) plugging your monitor into a non DVI plug in the card (does it have 2 ports VGA/DVI?) So, this was the decisive hint. I switched back to the analogue connection and everything works fine. Thanks a lot! But, anyway, I'm not fully satisfied. The analogue output is only the second best solution (but only like switching from perfect to nearly perfect). Has anyone got any idea why Direct3D doesn't work properly with the DVI-connection? But maybe I should ask Microsoft...
poppi 0 Posted January 26, 2006 i thought that all the TFT screens work at 75 MHz max , maybe there is the problem Normally you don't need more than 60 Hz, which is quite perfect for a TFT. Connected via the DVI-port, I can't even choose a higher value...
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Open your flashpoint.cfg with editor and change this line: refresh=XX; to: refresh=60; (or max 75) Save and try. MfG Lee
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 26, 2006 If you use Refresh=0; then OFP will use the default refresh rate for the configured resolution, which is the most compatible setting.
