Graphical Problems...

Recommended Posts

Hiya, guys. I'm having a bit of a problem with my OFP. I figured it would be better if I provided a screen or two instead of trying to describe my problem.

Note the road and the crosshairs.

Pic 1

Note the textures on the treads of the M113 and Jeep, and the logo at the top.

Pic 2

I'm not sure, but I don't think I ever noticed this screen before. Could this have something to do with it? It could be me just never noticing, but...

Strange...

(The little square of white and beige is just my desktop showing through after pressing PrtScr)

Specs:

nVidia GeForce 6200 OC

1.25 GB RAM

2.08 Ghz

Windows Service Pack 2

Is there anything else you need to know? huh.gif

Yes.

Video driver version, ingame settings, resolution, antialiasing and AF, DXDLL? OPFR version (1.96)? Would be a good start smile_o.gif .

edit: I can see you have DXDLL, its better not to use it honestly has reflections and post processing with latest video driver version might push your small GPU more than it should.

Also any problems with other games?

Cloudlets: Enabled

Blood: Enabled

Brightness: 1.4

Gamma Correction: 1.6

Frame Rate: 20..40

I know you didn't need all that, but I put it all up for safety.

Anti-Aliasing and Video Card Drivers... Sorry to sound nooby, but how do I check. I know I downloaded my drivers three or four days ago.  sad_o.gif

EDIT- I've been using DxDll with these settings for the past 3 or 4 days, and it worked beautifully. I have the latest drivers (not sure on the exact version whistle.gif ), and I encountered these problems just now, when I started ofp.

Also, no problems with other games.

You can simply right click on your desktop and click on nvidia display>monitor to access your video driver settings, your forceware driver version can be found there. Now for your settings>> crazy_o.gif .

A bit on the high side dont you think? Recomend you to delete your userInfo.CFG file and flashpoint.CFG and to run the OPFR preferences setup>>autodetect, reduce texture resolutions, terrain to low, object shadows to OFF, visibility to 1000 and disable post filtering and water reflection in DXDLL, now see if it goes smile_o.gif .

Okay, my forceware is 81.98.

About my settings:

I admit, they're a little high. But, in reality all I use it for anymore is making the occasional mission and taking screens. And playing around with addons. Haven't encountered lag yet, except the occasional set of choppiness. I was gonna take it down to 800x600. I'll try that first, then what you suggested and see how it goes. smile_o.gif

EDIT- Yah, ya know what? Taking it down to 800x600 worked for about three or four miniutes. Tommorrow's the weekend... I'm just gonna take it out altogether and reinstall it. crazy_o.gif I just got my comp reformatted two weeks ago, so I won't be losing much. At all. tounge2.gif I figure, it's better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for your help, anyway.  wink_o.gif I figure that it's probably for the best.

You posted you downloaded new drivers 3 or 4 days ago, might want to revert to a previous set if the problem persists smile_o.gif .

Will do. wink_o.gif

I downloaded the new drivers when I got DxDll. Like I said, it ran fine until now. It might've just given up. I dunno. wink_o.gif

I dunno what happened, but once again it works beautifully. Maybe my comp just needed a night's rest.  biggrin_o.gif

Don't worry. I'll probably be back again to whine soon.  tounge2.gif With my luck, I give it two... maybe three more days without problems.  rofl.gif

EDIT- I did tone my settings down a little bit, but forgive me. I have very high standards. tounge2.gif

From the sounds of it, you've got heat issues. I noticed you've got your card overclocked. Try running with your usual settings, but drop the card down to factory speeds, and see how that goes. If you don't see the problem occuring, then it's the overclocking that's doing it. If you absolutely must OC your vid card, then start cranking up the speeds slowly until you start seeing artifacts after a while of playing, then drop the speeds back down a couple of Mhz.

ps. That loading screen you linked shows up when you use the "-nosplash" switch when running Flashpoint.

..and if you must O/C add some cooling bro and some hardware/software to manage it. I've been overclocking for years and believe me - Heat is your enemy - Check it! crazy_o.gif
