Military units from which nations?

Recommended Posts

I've read around and done some searches on the forums and all I've managed to find out about which nations and their armies will be in Armed Assault is basically the US and the Australian Defence Force.

Does anyone know of any other nations and their military units that will feature? Such as Russia, UK, France, Germany?

Sorry if this has been asked loads of times but I did a search and nothing came up.

I dont belive Austraillia will be there, i think you might of got confused with some the early shots that used a vehicle from the Australlian pack in VBS as a place holder intill they made more vehicles for armed assault. (thats what we presumed at the time)

Im pretty much confident itll be the US (as usuall in games) and russia, or a an army with mainly russian equipment.

Okay thanks for the info, do you know if OFP:R mods will work with Armed assault or do they have to be new mods made from scratch?

Cos the stuff the BWMOD and UKF teams have made is class.

We will (probably) be able to convert it smile_o.gif

Might need some changes before it works though whistle.gif

I believe theyre taking the current Korean situation and putting a north and a south side with the United States aiding the south. We probably won't know what country the north & south sides originate from but I'm pretty sure that the US is in the game. I don't think Australia will be in ArmA, maybe you could share where you got that info from (link)?

@guyguy1 as was said look at early ArmA screens and you see a ADF UNIMOG as well as a ADF Jeep, more than likely got the idea from that. BIS have stated numerous times now that they will try to make converting mods/models over as easy as possible. However considering that ArmA mods/units are designed with Game2 in mind (converting ArmA to game2 should be even easier) i think that a little bit of work may need to be done on existing models/configs to make them work properly.

On a sidenote I really would love to see BIS code some of their vehicle classes a little differently so that we could make new vehicle a bit easier without the need for dozens of scripts. Prime example would be Missiles on boats or car class.

Just my 2 cents smile_o.gif

For this (graphically), it depends on if normal maps are manditory. If they are not, barring any script incompatibilities, then you shoudl be able to pass them straight through. They will just look less nice than the models with normal maps.

Operation Flashpoint CWC and Resistance took place in the early/mid eighties. The story was one where NATO forces faced a renegade Soviet faction. At the time, the USSR still existed.

Armed assault takes place in the present or near future, but judging by the screenshots it looks as if the U.S. is fighting the same enemy, but it would have to either be a Russian force or a fictional alternate reality modern Soviet force, the story could be that the Soviet still exists. Don't forget that the original OFP story was based on a fictional past event that very well could have happened, so it's possible that ArmA will have a similar theme (but this time present/future) that the story follows. However since the game is still quite far from release and we've been in the dark for a bit and have only seen a few screenshots, it could be subject to change. It was confirmed that the original content would be included, the same missions and therefore the same units, but wether the new campaign is based using the same forces is not. So it could be true that we are facing the same enemy, and this is the direction that the screenshots are pointing us in, but there could something that BIS isn't showing us.

NGPCG at this point undoubtedly involves U.S. Marines and an unidentified Russian force, there is direct proof of this. However the terms of their involvment is still unclear, wether they are hostile or friendly towards eachother is undetermined and it is possible that they are allies, though it is equally possible that they get drawn into conflict. The story, from what we know, is that it is pre-determined that the U.S. will be victorious in the long run, but due to the dynamic nature of the campaign, it may well be possible that all of this can be true. But we can still only go off of what we've seen and read, and all of it is potentially subject to change since the release is so far off.
