Compressed EXE Files

hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a high compression program to make a file into an EXE and where to get it, problem is the size of the custom mod ive done is 1.46 GB even using stuffit. I need to host it but filefront wont accept files over 1gb and i dont really want to break it up any ideas?

I remember having read somewhere on a wbesite comparing compression programs like winzip/winrar/stuffit etc... that UHARC is certainly the best and more powerfull compression method.

Here you can find a freeware configuration file for the UHARC program, it is including a version of UHARC for non commercial use.

Not sure if it will solve your problem, but if it is really the best compression method, you should not be able to find a better solution to have the smaller possible file size.

But what is the size of your original file , if after compression you obtain a 1.46gb one ?

Hmm I don't use any web download helpers,won't see me trying to download any 1.4 gig file without resume.

Yep. It would be better to split the file up into 100MB rar files and add a par file (.par can check the split files for consistency an can even repair them if necessary. It is often used in binary newsgroups).

Downside is it requires a program to do this, as Winrar and alike don't offer this option. Quickpar

How about hjsplit, its free and very good http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32 problem is that you have to have the program to re-join, but its only a 130kb dload so I doubt thats much of a problem if you provide a link.
