Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted September 17, 2005 Hi there Some of you old hardcore players of course remember David Braben from the Elite games. Sadly Elite 4 has been cancelled and a new project for the 3rd gen console has startet. This game will feature 100 % freedom, meaning that all the characters have been coded to have their own will, motivation and aim.... Not just one of those good/evil games out there. Another game i just stumbled over, is Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4). Look at this ingame video, this is what the PS3 is capable of! Lots of eyecandy, but will it be playable? http://www.fappin.com/link_fo....rd=True

People said similar things when the MGS 2 footage was released. Of course, we know how that game turned out. Â *** Regarding the trailer: -Snake looks old. Really old. -The intro part looked too fps-y. MGS was about stealth. -It had a Zanzibar kind of feeling. Until it actually said it was after X years after Big Shell, I thought this was a remake. I'm guessing this is the "how the hell am I going to hide in that?!" enviroment they were talking about. Â

Old snake, from the half downloaded trailer I saw (internet died, and I've not got around to redownloading it), I thought there were two snakes for some reason... Being FPSy - You could play MGS2 as a FPS, pretty much all the way though (on lower difficulty settings), it could be either : 1, You play as other people (SEAL Teams etc?) at points in the game, MGS2 you played as two diffrent characters thoughout the whole game.. And others during the VR missions etc 2, it's part of the opening of the game, maybe you fight in with group of [some group], and then they turn out to be just as evil as the other people, and your stuck in [evil place], and have to save the world from [new metal gear name] Anyway, I don't care if bits of it are FPSy, as long as it has the main thing in MGS2 (not played MGS1, only the gamecube conversion, which was pretty good, acctualy).. The big (/huge) storyline - Ben

Wonder if they are going to release the Subsistence on other platforms like Substance. Quote[/b] ]-Snake looks old. Really old. Yeah even older than Sam Fisher. The sneaking genre is starting to be full of wheelchair warriors.. Quote[/b] ]-The intro part looked too fps-y. MGS was about stealth. "Not FPS - MGS!" sniperuk02 0 Posted September 17, 2005 At first I thought it was Big Boss, and was hoping for the game to be a remake of the Metal Gear series. But then otacon was there so that gets rid of that plan Looks so so good though

But then otacon was there so that gets rid of that plan Uhh.. didnt the equipment and the setting make you think "were not in 1992 anymore." Just glanced over the still screenshots, seemed much more within realistic expectations yet very cool.
The Frenchman 0 Posted September 17, 2005 The devs really need to get rid of the moustashe. He hardly looks like Snake now. Â

It wasn't until awhile ago that I realized that was a joke on the viewer. Ah, well. Some bad news: Quote[/b] ]TGS 2005: Kojima Through With Metal GearPart 4 to be last entry for both Kojima and character designer Shinkawa. by Anoop Gantayat September 17, 2005 - We recall having heard something to this effect with previous entries in the series, but Hideo Kojima, producer/director of Metal Gear Solid 4, has stated that MGS4 will be his last game in the series. Art director Yoji Shinkawa will also leave the series after part 4, Kojima revealed during an event at Konami's Tokyo Game Show booth today. The reason for the departure? "As a game designer, I want to make something new," Kojima stated. Konami's TGS stage schedule is packed full of Metal Gear related events, but this particular event, titled "Mission 3 MG Saga on TGS" was of particular interest to those who've been with the series since the start. With Enterbrain's Hirokazu Hamamura at his side (Hamamura is in charge of all the Famitsu magazines -- he's pretty respected in the game development community), Kojima detailed the history of Metal Gear, starting with the first MSX2 Metal Gear game (released on 7/12/1987) and continuing on through Metal Gear Solid 4. He even shared a few personal pictures of himself. Kojima had some interesting comments throughout the stage event. "I originally wanted to make movies and novels," he explained, "but nothing worked. I encountered the Famicom (Japanese version of the NES) when I was in a worried state." Continuing on to the NES version's sequel, Meta Gear 2 Solid Snake (released to Japan on 7/19/90), Kojima revealed that he originally didn't want to make a sequel. Good thing he did, as series character designer Yoji Shinkawa, also in attendance at the event, revealed that this sequel is what made him want to move into the game industry. The dialogue continued into the modern day "Solid" incarnation of the series. "Through the creation of this game, we were able to form the basis for Kojima Productions," Kojima stated, revealing just what a turning point Metal Gear Solid was for him. This first PlayStation entry in the series, released to Japan on 9/8/1998, was originally started with a staff of just twenty people. Two PS2 sequels followed, leading up to the full unveiling of MGS4 earlier this week. Jumping a bit further into the Metal Gear timeline, Kojima shared a chart detailing the organization of the Metal Gear saga. The chronology begins with MGS3: Snake Eater, followed by Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, all three of which form the "Big Boss Trilogy." MGS, MGS2 Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4 follow in that order, forming the Solid Trilogy. Metal Gear Ghost Babel, Metal Gear Acid and Metal Gear Acid 2 are side stories. MGS4 seems to be generating the same level of excitement as MGS2 did when it first showed off the power of the PlayStation 2 back at E3 2000, so there's no sign of the series losing its appeal. If Kojima does move on after MGS4, we don't doubt that there will be an MGS5 some day, but perhaps it will have some competition from whatever new property Kojima turns his attention to. Guest RKSL-Rock Posted September 29, 2005 Sadly Elite 4 has been cancelled... Apologies for digging this up again but i found this that i though might interest some people... Quote[/b] ]Inevitably of course, we'll have to quiz you on that old classic Elite - what's the story there? Do you still plan to follow the game up at some point? Or have you lost interest in developing space games? What kind of games excite you now?David Braben: Absolutely, we will be following it up, but for many reasons we have held off doing so. People's expectations are understandably high, as are mine, and I absolutely will not do a 'knock-out' game. It runs a lot of stuff successfully these days and no need for bootdisks, obscure sound hacks or slowdown programs. http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_li....=Search
