NKB : pack 1

Recommended Posts

About a week ago i was considering making a ww2 mission, But a big problem i had was finding bunkers, there are the bunker packs by fortress ofp, but i think they are getting a little outdated now, so me and my friend have decided to make a bunker pack smile_o.gif , we have so far spent a little under a week making one bunker model (we plan to spend alot of time on them) well after we made the first model we decided that we dont realy know much about what ww2 bunkers should look like, just what we've seen from other games and what not. So we are asking if people can give us any suggestions for bunkers? (sizes, shapes, etc.)

anyway here is what we did for the first bunker model we have made (please post what you think to these) : biggrin_o.gif

Looks very nice, not sure of the overall size of it but it looks like it could hold an AA gun of some sort or a mortar. Very nice job on it, hope to see more smile_o.gif

Very interesting and generally not something you usually see adon makers going for,I like how the ground texture fades out.

Maybe it helps to know that most german bunkers mainly was build of premanufactured/standarized parts, the so called Regelbauten.

You will find few plans with google picture search when trying with Regelbauten.

Or just look here

Seems that most of gfx707 bunkers are Regelbauten, so the design of them is still up to date (or better historical correct).

Hope it helped you a little.

Nice work so far btw smile_o.gif

the overall size right now is a units head will be around the same hight as the camo netting with there weapon on there back, and there is a wood platform which they can stand on normally, and hopefully shoot over. smile_o.gif

i decided to do that so the textures will not look as out of place on it when the map you have it on has a different ground texture.

i will try and make  a few concrete ones when i get good enough textures smile_o.gif , in this model it is just to look like it has been hastily thrown together biggrin_o.gif . i will probably make a desert edition too, as it would only require me to change a few of the textures.

Edit: i also forgot to say that it has quite a big poly count (1358 faces), ive given it a few Distance view lods so that it will not cause lag hopefully.

Sounds very nice, especially the idea with the ground textures. It is quite a clever approach to a problem encountered by a good deal of bunkers in OFP..

Though the links I provided are for scale models, I hope they inspire you in your work. I personally would love to see a slope-friendly concrete bunker used on the beaches of Normandy or a sandbag machinegun bunker as pictured in the first link. Textures for your first bunker do look very nice, they have an authentic feel about them as well as the way the bunker looks. Good job, keep it up smile_o.gif

Edit; here are a few more links you might find useful. To access the plans section you may need to request membership but I think it may be worth your time wink_o.gif
