the_shadow 0 Posted June 30, 2005 hi, i was sondering, could anyone making the russian amphibious landingcraft PTS-10? i think it would be a nice contribution to the OFP community. i had never even heard of this vehicle unit earlier today when i saw it on a swedish military site, apperantly a russian Marine infantry unit is in Gothenburg today. staying as gueasts on a swedish marine infantry regiment more pics can be found here ,sorry though that the site is in swedish, but just click the images to the right for bigger view apperantly it wasnt today, it was june 22nd (last week)
FerretFangs 0 Posted June 30, 2005 I've never seen that thing. But I can tell by loking at it that, it wouldn't make it to shore before it was torn to shreds by anything firing a larger round than 12.7mm. A Barrett M82A1 on the shore could kill the crew with a few shots. A fighter mounting a 20mm cannon would sink it on a single pass. An infantry squad equipped with AT4, or SMAW would blow it away. A single 3in, or 5in gun would tear it apart. Seriously, it wouldn't last very long- in real life, or OFP.
sniperuk02 0 Posted June 30, 2005 Yes but a hummer wouldnt last long neither would and lcac against a frogfoot and they are in ofp. Would be cool to have ingame.
Major Fubar 0 Posted June 30, 2005 I wouldn't mind seeing this baby in OFP... http://www.army.cz/scripts/detail.php?id=6079 (Offtopic - does anyone know what the amphibious vehicles in the Tomb Raider movie are? They're similar to the PTS-10, but wheeled...)

FerretFangs 0 Posted June 30, 2005 Ok, someone build one, so I can watch it sink inside of 30 seonds of gameplay.

Not every vehicle in any military is heavy armoured becuase they would run out of money. So they would use a stronger force to initially invade a beach or marsh area etc. thus removing any obsticals and allowing these troops carriers to unload troops/equipment in huge ammounts. the_shadow 0 Posted June 30, 2005 heh, in the article it says that it can transport 75 soldiers.... that sounds a bit much to me... anyway, it is only used to transport the soldires from the bigger ship to the shore... like the Higgins boat during ww2.. or the DUCW (is that correct?) sniperuk02 0 Posted June 30, 2005 My book says 70 mean or 9.98 tonnes of cargo. And go at 10.6km/h in water.

Bobcatt666 0 Posted June 30, 2005 Well inbetween other mod stuff I got in the works can give it ago, hd blueprints for it someplace good referance pics be a plus. Seeing got a lot of the lesser oddball stuff made for east and west on stand by for a skinner why not one of these. I can use the scripts off another unit I demoed that seem to work nice for hauling around armored and wheeled units on it.
the_shadow 0 Posted July 1, 2005 it seams more or less impossible to find any good reference materials on the net... i didnt even find a handful of pics... maybe it´s just one of those vehicles noone notice?
sniperuk02 0 Posted July 1, 2005 some pictures Theres a few there, google is getting a few results. But I still doubt it could carry 70 people.
Ares1978 0 Posted July 1, 2005 Well, I'm pretty sure it could carry 70 people, but not comfortably. We squeezed well over 30 people onboard a Sisu A-45 truck (no gear and everybody was sitting down) and it's not even close to the PTS in size.
