Ares1978 0 Posted June 20, 2005 Have been getting a similar problem for a good while now. Usually just crashes cleanly to desktop without any error messages, after 4-13 minutes, but only ingame (as in actually playing a mission). Tried everything. Reinstalled everything including WinXP. Tried without any addons or mods, tried newer and older video and motherboard drivers etc. For a second it looked like eliminating HW T&L helped, but it didn't. Tried randomly changing every imaginable setting, with no results. Don't even ask if I use -nomap or not. So if somebody knows a solution to this one as well, I'd appreciate it. Acro 0 Posted June 21, 2005 I had this this kind of a problem also but it was the same thing with every game. I tried all the same methods that Ares did for nothing. So, I concluded that the problem was in my hardware and bought a new motherboard and a processor. The freezing and the crashing completely stopped after I did that. You should probaply check your hardware, too.

ade_mcc 0 Posted June 21, 2005 Quote[/b] ]FLASHPOINTBETA.EXE What is that??? 28th January 2004. BIS releases version 1.96 Beta to the world. This file created flashpointbeta.exe and so testers could try both their v1.9x and v1.96 without having to change anything. As there was no subsequent difference between the Beta version, the release candidade and the final version, many people (including myself) didn't bother to re-download essentially the same file. Hence, some people starting up with flashpointbeta.exe Tomorrow, some more important dates in OFP history!

Ares1978 0 Posted June 21, 2005 Soltek SL-75DRV5 and AMD Athlon 1,7 ghz processor Epox EP-8RDA3 "something" and Athlon XP 3000+ here. And before I got the problem I first changed video card and changed from Win2k to XP. Then a week later, I upgraded the rest of my machine. It could be a few dozen things that are causing problems. Have you tried putting -nomap before -mod=@ECP?? Like this "C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTBETA.EXE" -nosplash -nomap -mod=@ECP Sounds simple but OFP is finicky in the way it loads at atartup. walker 0 Posted June 22, 2005 Hi all As was pointed out in the scond post I think it was: You may need to revert to older video drivers there apears to be a problem with recent ones. look here http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=46480 As pointed out upgrade to 1.96 beta of OFP from BIS anyway. It is what every one else uses and it is very stable. Codemasters will not be producing any more OFP updates as they broke with BIS. Kind regards walker
mganik 0 Posted June 27, 2005 I recently had a similar problem. I had totally reloaded windows from scratch on a blank disk (to ensure a clean install), and used only the drivers and files that were available when 1.96 came out. I wanted to ensure that OFP could run, since it had been running great before. But, maybe because I had upgraded memory, or had upgraded my motherboard drivers, I was getting a crash after anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes of play. I didn't go back to my old memory and I didn't try to revert back to the old motherboard drivers. I finally solved the problem ... after many frustrating days. It turned out to be my motherboard settings (for things like CPU and memory speed, and wait states). I had them on the high performance settings. The game ran fine when I put the settings on "safe" mode. To get the most performance, I ended up putting the settings to auto-detect, and it appears that my new memory needed to be set slightly slower. My problem was solved! Finally, I have set up a separate boot hard drive just for OFP. That way, no other drivers or junk can interfere with OFP. Kinda reminds me of the old days when we'd create a boot floppy disk for games. (Just a suggestion or idea that may help.)
