iNeo 0 Posted April 30, 2005 Tonight was Walpurgis Night. Quote[/b] ]Viking fertility celebrations took place around April 30 and due to Walburga being declared a saint at that time of year, her name became associated with the celebrations. Walburga was worshipped in the same way that Vikings had celebrated spring and as they spread throughout Europe, the two dates became mixed together and created the Walpurgis Night celebration. But since I don't seem to have any friends I didn't go out. It was a sucky night.

Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted April 30, 2005 Everyone that is confused, the reason for a different date for Easter is given in the following link: Quote[/b] ]The formula for Easter—"The first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox"—is identical for both Western and Orthodox Easters, but the churches base the dates on different calendars: Western churches use the Gregorian calendar, the standard calendar for much of the world, and Orthodox churches use the older, Julian calendar. http://www.factmonster.com/spot/easter1.html
