Gedis 0 Posted April 16, 2005 Hello, i'm creating mission about desert storm... and i want that all vechicles(tanks, ammo, fuel and repair trucks) move from the Hanger, whithout destroying it by collisions... how to do that and which method to use(waypoints, trigers or commands in init field)? How to do that soldiers/crew on the alarm ran to these covered tanks, get in without engine start and wait until they are allowed to move one by one out of the building? Please, help me... Kin Hil 0 Posted April 17, 2005 All the hangars were bombed to prevent exactly that. The reason I don't like replaying the Gulf Wars in OFP.. too one sided. American forces took out Iraqi forces without any real fights. So if you play Iraqis its too hard, if you play Americans its too easy. Thats why I like guerrilla missions... like Chechnya, or perhaps when there is an Iraq island made... the current insurgency there. Anywho, I don't think you can fix that. But maybe make the tanks expert so they don't crash into crap, and set them on safe..maybe that'll work, but I'm guessing. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Iraqi republican guard battalion was even droven to behind enemy lines, so they attacked from flanks... and in that battle were destroyed or heavily damaged 7 abramses, though in that brigade there were no T-72, only t-55 maybe even t-62 well, i don't remember exactly what are the story of this, but it was and is worth my attention... well, tanks are in hangers because i couldn't better hidding place for lots of vechicles, it's fictional... but idea is that, abrams(M1 was in great number in 1991, it could also be M1A1, but in 1991 there were only ~60) are moving towards this airbase to destroy all the guarding possitions and to take it to cualition side, while abrams are busy fireing at T-55 in fireing possitions, whole hidding tanks comes out from their hidding places and kicks abrams asses of course after that those iraqi vechicles escapes from that airport for fiting in Operation Iraq Freedom... Kin Hil 0 Posted April 17, 2005 If you like conventional warfare in your OFP, sure... but the only way I'd ever do that is a fictional war between the US and China over Taiwan.. or one between two or more third world countries. Gedis 0 Posted April 17, 2005 well, ofcourse iraqi had almost no chance against that great cualition, but cualition was afraid of iraqi republican guard... if it's hard so you need fight harder, my tactics against M1 with iraqi T-72 M1A1 is too strong for one T-72... The USA will be sidelined in this War. Tiwan issue is only a Red herring (LOL) for Chineese arms build up prior to the above mentioned War. Classic Chineese diversion of attention in one direction while preparing to move in another. Therefore if you want to reherse the next great war. Pit The Europeans & MiddleEastern against the Chineese. Keep up the retoric about the Fat Capitalistic Americans. it helps their mis-direction on intentions. When the Bovine Droppings hits the Fan, Hopefully the USA will follow the Worlds example set in the last Gulf War and Stand-Down. I get the ID TAG of the object (hanger) --then with IGORS RelPosition script for direction of the hanger i use a get pos set pos routine for the Tank (vehicle) to the ID center with direction and had the driver go to a waypoint straight out of the hangar. using a trigger when the 1st tank exits then the next tank is setpos and follows the 1st. etc. The tanks can be anywhere out of sight and hearing till the script is called in what ever manner you choose. Would include a sample but am at work taking lunch break and all that info is at home. Really is pretty simple. Gedis 0 Posted April 20, 2005 well, last words are not mine and i don't say that it's true... secondly, about that friendly fire, I don't think that all 5 were destroyed by it, when iraqi Tawakalna division artilery was fireing at will and all 220 T-72 could miss one abrams. Futhermore, don't judge T-72 just because it could not be so good in Operation Desert Storm... Facts: T-72 was almost 20 older than abrams(1973 year of build), iraqi first T-72 got in 1978-1979. T-72 couldn't destroy abrams not because his canon was not powerful enough, not because crew were bad trained, but because targeting system were not new, laser that counts exact range to target couldn't recognize new coalition vechicles(Abrams, Bradley and etc.) and it gives bad range so the rounds couldn't hit... But don't forget that iraqi T-72 was an export version, this also means alot... I don't understand why iraqi didn't upgrade T-72M1 to T-72 at least B(new targeting systems, era armor and etc.), it was possible... I expected some one to give me the answer. Glad to this day they did NOT! To solve your script problem: Check out CamCreate vehicle. Check out RelPosition (Search for IGOR on OFPEC) or give leader a way point and set formation to column name your vehicles tank1 setfuel = 0 (that way the waypoint is kept with the group even though they cant move.) (etc etc) then study the RelPosition sample of Igor once you grasp this you will admire and thank Igor. it opens a whole new world of OFP possibilitys. then at the spawn point (if you already have the vech on the map) create trigger to an sqs file that sets vehicle1 fuel to 1. spawns the leaders vech, ~4 seconds then sets vech2 fuel to 1 and spawns etc ect. and off they go. Yes a lot of steps are missing here but thats the fun of Creating Mission and SQS files. " If something is worth doing, it's worth doing wrong untill you get it right." agent556 5 Posted April 20, 2005 now if you want something with less scripting, you can always have individual T-72 units in a hangar (not grouped), then have them all waypoints which is linked to multiple triggers. example: 1 t72 leaves, hits an area trigger which is only affected by the specified unit, the next unit gets its waypoint switched, hits an area trigger.... repeat until all are out. when they are all out, they all join a commanding unit. simple, probably takes a while though. Now on the map place a trigger radius 5 infront of the man (who is hopefuly set facing the Hanger) set Activation by EAST (if you want to live and watch them)  activation ONCE and on the Activation line place   [] exec "HiddenTank.sqs" save mission again and run it. Walk thru the trigger. The Tanks will spawn in the hanger one at a time and exit  about 8 seconds apart move in column to the first waypoint then fan out into wedge and proceed north .
