Sniping in OFP2!!

Hi there.

I was wondering if is possible to add some real dynamic weather that actually affects ballistics.

I wouldn’t expect heat and humidity to be added, because the effects of them in the flight path of a bullet aren’t that noticeable, but wind is a key factor.

I always been interested in sniping, it’s a challenge, and the more facts involved in it, and the more skill needed to success, the best it taste to hit a target.

Bullet drop can be achieved easily, its already of my satisfaction in OFP, but wind conditions affecting the flight path of a bullet, no, that’s not available in OFP, and it would be a very interesting feature.

As it is now, sniping in OFP don’t require much skill, apart for other field crafts, like being able to go there, do the job, and live another day, that again, don’t really need a lot to be improved.

If it possible to add real wind to OFP2, and a way to check the speed and direction, the sniper then, could collect this details and use them to guarantee a one shot one hit, making this a very important skill to use in multiplayer, because not everybody could just do it from the first time.

Another thing that would be good is the possibility to access more than one optic device.

As it is now, we only have a pair of binoculars in OFP, but some more in the inventory would be fantastic, like binoculars with reticules that can hell the player to calculate the distance of a know size object or person, monocular, spotting scopes, different magnifications, and so on.

There is many things that I could suggest for OFP2, but many of them if not the most are sniping related, and if they could become true in OFP2, the rest of the game surely will be out of this world.

/suggestions/bullet penetration

suggestions/weapon accuracy, weapon fire accuracy

and even

suggestions/iron sights

And yes sniping, should be more sophisticated imho wink_o.gif

Imagine extremely realistic sniper mission, for ex: jungle/night/rain, track and kill tha bad guy.

Maybe too much super-silent-spec-op-thing, but with realistic sniping certainly lot of fun.

Thats a fine suggestion as long as there is a sensible way to convery a sense of wind speed/direction to the player. Unless snipers in real life do have some sort of gadget that could be implemented like the complass or watch, im sure that an 'indicator' would be disliked by the purists or those striving for realism as in having as little extra information on screen as possible.

Otherwise, are the trees going to sway? Am I going to struggle running into a headwind?

(Or thinking aloud, perhaps the future is surround fans that turn on and off around you as appropriate tounge_o.gif )
