Baphomet 0 Posted March 13, 2005 Has or will anyone incorporate Karillion's Vtol script into an addon via useractions and eventhandlers if possible? I really enjoyed using it during RTS and I have the script files but I lack the time, patience, and ability to do it myself. I'd have to say Karillion's Vtol is definitely the best simply because of it's ease of use. Thus far all other incarnations of VTOL scripts in aircraft have proved to be clunky and hard to use. Very much unlike the fool proof Vtol script that ensures you won't have to spend minutes hovering or worring about flipping over, stalling and crashing like others. Anyhow. Just a thought. Bobcatt666 0 Posted March 13, 2005 not sure, had a few issues trying it out on the Marine AV8B with AI on the TARAWA, the AI sometimes also launched nerby empty harriers off the flight deck. The AI can at least use it via ordering them usung the command key. One dislike was lack of movement while in hover mode. Tried it with the Yak-44 as well. Using modifed helio setup is still better. to script to switch flight modes than use the the script. Unless a way to make vehicle units able to move right to left while in hover mode so it can turn to engage enemy units proporly, it uslla i not loccked in postion will roll out of control. colonel_klink 0 Posted March 13, 2005 The Falkland mod's new VTOL script doesn't require any user actions, and doesnt switch between aircraft and helo, yet the VTOL is very effective, and while in VTOL mode the player can change direction using the arrow keys. cell7 0 Posted March 13, 2005 I had a look at some of the old topics (2 to 3 years back) wanting to find a version of the VTOL script to use on my X wing and found Prospero,s ProShere. I have never used it myself yet, only just DL it. Apparantly, when in VTOL mode hovering or level flying, you can change direction using default keyboard commands and handles well. When i get a chance i'll try it out unless someone in the community can share.
Baphomet 0 Posted March 14, 2005 Karillion's vtol is based on Prospero's prosphere. In case it hasn't been already mentioned. I dunno about rolling out of control. To be honest when I was flying the cessna in an RTS game it was just gravy because it was the most unrealistic vtol simply because it was like you were flawlessly hovering over the ground and slowing down and descending or ascending. You wouldn't risk falling out of the sky simply because if you were in vtol mode, It wasn't possible. Perhaps not realistic, but a hell of a lot more simple and fun. It did exactly what it needed to do. Make planes available for use in areas where long flat stretches of land were simply not always available for takeoffs or landings. It did so in the most predictable and practical way possible.
