OFP mp

Recommended Posts

i've recently started playing ofp MP. before i played a lot of Joint ops (which is quite good despite being screwed up by dumb down patches).

and i must say ofp MP is so good. but as mentioned above there is room for improvement. and i hope in ofp2 they get those things right.

to me those things are

- MOST IMPORTANT keep realistic movement/ open maps and ballastics above all. these are the reasons i play OFP.

- introduce less 'sparse' landscape - more realistic and less 'stuck on' feel. but ATM ofp still rates good on graphics.

- IMPORTANT make it possible to join an already started game (but perhaps have an auto assign to keep team from being unbalanced)

- make undertstanding MP map codes easier. as a newbie when launching a MP game i find it tricky to understand what codes mean (lol at least dm = death match, and co = co-op so that's good).

- have more server choices (allow the server to decide multiple respawns, weapons, etc)

cheers...

My opinion on OFP MP.

I see two aspects to it: PvP and Coop.

Player Vs Player.

I don't like it, the missions are usually with respawn, they take place in a 20m x 20m area and everyone has a G36 and runs around like a demented monkey. It is fast and severely bugged (you can shoot around corners, kill everyone in a house with a grenade etc etc.)

Utterly fucking boring for me.

Also the attitude of the players is much worse than in coop, me and my online friends usually take the piss by saying things like "g0 g0 g0", "u hax00r" and various other CS style dribble. PvP players seem a lot less courteous, they are there to prove how much better they are that carries ignorance, arrogance and also impatience. If anything OFP is a game about patience. Waiting for the opportune moment.

In Coop:

On some servers this is not much better, this is generally just young players grabbing a super weapon and running towards the enemy - everyone gets killed by absurdly placed and organised enemy and the mission lasts 40 mins until the last man is killed.

Utterly fucking boring for me.

On some servers you have a leader, a squad and discipline. They run in nice straight lines, and geneally become quite effective at killing more and more absurdly placed enemies until you have missions with 20 objectives, 2 hours running time between them and 700 enemy soldiers with their guns on their back standing around fires.

Utterly fucking boring for me.

When you have good challenging but not impossible and realistic missions with leadership etc. Your on to a winner.
