Newleafman 0 Posted February 2, 2005 Seeing as how the YK3 and Flash Fx files are so big, I need some advice. I can't see downloading for 20 hours straight. What are some of the best files to download. Also are there going to be file "conflicts between mods? And last, is there some sort of tool or utility, that enables you to have many mods installed, and you can choose which one to execute?
fallchild 0 Posted February 2, 2005 For some good addons you could try checking the later pages of this thread. Or alternatively you could check the list of addons on the first page of this thread, they are all high quality and have download links. There should only be conflicts between mods if they both use a config.bin modification. By and large if they both use the same addon, it will be the same version so shouldn't cause any problems, but it's best to check. For launching mods you can use this utility by Kegetys. By the way, you could always try downloading the mod using a download manager and spreading the download out over a month or so

Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted February 2, 2005 Not sure if this is the right forum for this. Utility; Yes, Keg released an OFP starter than let's you choose which mod to use when starting up the game You can also use a download accalerator which has a resume option. This means you start downloading and pause whenever you want (and shutting down your comp) and continue the DL on an other date. Some mods can't be used together. For example you can't use the Y2K3 mod and Flash FX since they both are full-replacement mods which replace the default config.

There are services where you can make a list of downloads and they will download the stuff, burn it onto a cd/dvd and mail it to you. Maybe someone you know can do the same for you. I know we did stuff like that more than once for modem users in our clan/country. Normally mods with replacement units are big. I'd try finmod, wgl, csla, (e)ecp, the new flashfx with replacement. Or wait til the new ecp version is out.
Mr_Tea 0 Posted February 2, 2005 Before I got a DSL flatrate at home, I downloaded a few GB of addons at my friends PC`s as they have an DSL flat. Because of that, I have nearly every addon that was made for OFP on CD`s.
sanctuary 19 Posted February 2, 2005 The first addon i downloaded when i finally bought Resistance was the Marine Assault Pack from Suchey, Earl, Jocko Flocko and Tactician. And i continue to play with those units very often, so i recommend the Marine Assault Pack (as you will notice that several mods or addons require it too) it is simply the best download to do in my opinion when you start downloading mods and addons for Resistance. Of course, that's not a mod but an addon But if you want you can always download the simple config from my signature to install it as a replacement mod for west/east units without needing any other addons.
