ebns72 0 Posted January 26, 2005 EDIT: typo on the title, I know :P should be (Actual) After getting a radeon 9800 around christmas time, I reinstalled ofp and got some addons. I recently downloaded the flashfx mod and some of the addons simply make it so the game won't load. This also happneed with the CW mod. When I install the flashfx llauma installer, the game won't load on startup. When I use addons such as Vit's AH-1W, wilco's retextured marines, the ghillie snipers, and others it won't load the game from the mission editor (if I place a unit and hit "preview" it is stuck gets stuck on the following loading screen. I am forced to restart my computer.) What puzzles me is the root of the problem. I have no idea what could be causing this. I have -nomap and -nosplash enabled. Placebo 29 Posted January 26, 2005 Don't paste the report from DXdiag please, it's long messy and provides irrelevant information, list your primary system specs manually
theavonlady 2 Posted January 26, 2005 some of the addons simply make it so the game won't load. What happens? Do you get an error message? Does you hard drive's activity light remain on? How many MBs of addons do you have? Are you using mod folders? Have you tried the -nomap switch on your OFP desktop shortcut's target line?

No. What happens is in the case of the llaumax sky it gets stuck at the loading screen. There are no error messeges, it just gets stuck. No. Quite a few, at least a couple hundred. I use mod folders and the nomap command.
BraTTy 0 Posted January 27, 2005 Your not specifying much.Sounds like OFP locks up at startup, and by certain addons while ingame using the editor? Asides AGP aperature problem (causes direct3d lockups) (try reducing AGP aperature in bios) Possible texture incompatibility....try hitting "autodetect" in OFP Preferences Avonlady could tell you more about these things, but possible you have wrong texture sizes in settings it sounds maybe You also say llamas sky it lockups at startup,I am just recollecting on how dxdll (Kegetys reflection addon) caused me lockups at startup, don't remember what I did to remedy, I am assuming you have this dxdll installed also? sanctuary 19 Posted January 27, 2005 Have you tried, after noticing this "stuck" situation to try to play with the clean OFP (i mean without any unofficial addon , sky or dxdll) to see if you have not a corrupted file somewhere. Then, if this test is ok, try to add some addons (not all the ones you have usually in your mod folders) and see if the insertion of one specific is the cause of the problem. ebns72 0 Posted January 27, 2005 I just completely nuked my ofp directory (just deleted about 4gb worth of ofp-ness) and completely reinstalled everything. Just re-downloaded the flashfx mod too, and now it works fine. Must have been a corrupted file as sanctuary suggested.

Placebo 29 Posted March 1, 2005 I also have an ATI Radeon 9800 and it works fine so I think it's not relevant where it's made
Snake Raper 0 Posted May 14, 2005 I hate to bring up old posts but this is a rather annoying problem that I also have. Here comes the intro. I install add-ons and uninstall add-ons on a regular basis as I find that after I try them out, the desired unit or vehicle or island is not all that I thought. That or I just don't need that particular add-on at the time. Warning, plot complication. If I decide that I want an add-on again, after placing it back in the place of honour in the res\addon file it may not work. In some cases I am replacing beta 1 with a beta 2 file, have it not work, place the beta 1 back in and it hangs on the loading screen again. Ende. Nothing short of uninstalling and reinstalling seems to work at allowing me to properly get in to the editor preview. In my opinion it has nothing to do with the system specs but rather a flaw somewhere else. If I do it all again after a clean install, it might work allowing me to swap out newer versions of the exact same file that gave me the problem in the first place. As I do the add, delete and swap often, clean installs every couple of days is a pain. Does anyone know of another soloution to this? If you want specs I can give them. The drive light goes off faster than it does when the preview successfully loads.
bucket man 2 Posted May 14, 2005 I had this loading screen lockup today too. It started all of a sudden with no new addons or nothing changed. Im now testing what addon/addons were causing it by placing them one by one. Its real pain in the ass though and takes hours to do.
