Reginald 0 Posted December 27, 2004 Hi. This is an idea I had a while ago, for improved anims. Forgive me if it's already been brought up or done, but I haven't seen it anywhere, so I thought I'd post. We all know that you can't get really close to other units in the game, and this limits the potential of cutscenes, and other interaction in the game. All the static anims that have been released look really nice, and are definately an improvement, but what if they could get better? Well, why not just create an invisible addon? Use their cargo positions to bring them closer, and it will greatly improve the quality of cutscenes, and other things. For example, if two people needed to shake hands, then you could create both anims seperately, assign them to cargo slots of the addon, and then just put two units in the vehicle, and suddenly they're shaking hands! Perhaps you'll indulge me in a better example that I just thought of. You could class the invisible addon as a car, and then have the driver anim looking like he was carrying the gunner (who could be wounded) while the wounded gunner would fire at people in order to protect both of them. Definately would be a cool thing to see, I would think. I know that it will look odd if you only put one unit in the vehicle, but this is meant for cutscenes anyway, so if anyone would like to give this idea a shot, and release an example of it to the community, I would be greatful. I would try it, but I'm in my final semester of university, so taking this on would be like doing another course for me. Anyway, feel free to talk about why this wouldn't work and such. stevevcb 3 Posted December 27, 2004 That's actually quite an interesting idea. Could work.
fingolfin 1972 Posted December 27, 2004 Nice idea! Sounds interesting! Only problem I see is that the animations could only be static.
h - 169 Posted December 27, 2004 Yeah, but adding some velocity scripting could cheat the eye to think the static anim is moving... Perhaps...
BraTTy 0 Posted December 27, 2004 I'm not sure what you want to achieve...how is a cargo anim higher quality with one thats not? Vehicle positions also have limits for example... you can't fire your weapon from vehicle positions. Sorry I am confused on what you mean
Reginald 0 Posted December 27, 2004 It wouldn't have to be static. If you add a walking anim to the driver's position of, let's say, a jeep, it'll look like it's walking in the drivers seat. If you limit the speed of the addon to walking speed, than it'll move. @Bratty, perhaps 'higher quality' was the wrong term. I meant that it would look nicer (the way the custom anims that are out look nicer than the ones BIS made). And you wouldn't have to fire your weapon from a vehicle position if it's classed as a gunner position. Reggy
Trenchfeet 0 Posted December 28, 2004 its a good idea i dont think you need an "addon" as such, just add the proxies and do a config file.
