Jamoose 0 Posted December 20, 2004 I have just thought of the idea of maybe having the ability to whisper or shout in game. Maybe if u don't have a radio or that you must do it for tactical reasons. This would improve the realism of the game as people wouldn't talk to each other on their radios when they are two feet away from each other. This could be used especially for the resistance (if there is one) as they would not all have radios for everyone on their helmets like they do on OFP1. Voice communication like this could also bring more atmosphere like shouting FIRE IN THE HOLE! When u pop a grenade in the enemy's base or even TAKE COVER! When you’re naded or bombed. Basically, OFP2 would be much more atmospheric and realistic if the use of shouting and whispering was used. This would beat other more scripted games like Call of Duty since their commands are scripted unlike my idea is that they would be used to give unscripted commands. Jamoose 0 Posted December 20, 2004 What I mean is that you can use this if you are in command of a Group of AI soldiers and they can talk back at you but not on their radios. I can also suggest that maybe the enemy could react and hear what you're saying if you shout on a stealth mission.

Phleep 0 Posted December 21, 2004 This was sort of implemented in the DirectPlay code. You could use direct speech to talk to all players within 50m. If they adjusted it to get quieter the further away you were and be directional it would be even better. To talk to the guy standing next to you in the game it would be great. You could intimidate a nearby enemy or request a comrade to cover you and people on the otherside of the map wouldn't be wondering what you were on about.
