In what way is a nimrod a fighter?

Essentially its because its one of the few (maybe only) dedicated recon platforms that can be armed with Sidewinder. Something is essentially only fitted to figther/bombers.

...and yes i'll do load outs that have it full capability if possible.

Exactly..

They were equipped with Sidewinders during the Falklands War thus making it the world's largest 'fighter'  biggrin_o.gif

I see you've got BAE Warton's graphics department 'cock up' collection. I think its the only Aircraft manufacturer that employs artists that have no bloody clue about aircraft!

The pic was used in the “MR4- Mighty Hunter†press campaign and is supposed to be an MR4. But it shows an MR2 loaded with AIM-120 AMRAAM.

MR2 can support AIM-9 Sidewinder series missiles, as can the MR4 but neither can support AIM-120 due to the fire control integration.

It’s one of the less obvious cock ups they made over the years.

Previous cock ups include:

Releasing an image of EuroFighter DA1 (German Dev Aircraft 1) to Flight International sporting Swastikas – an internal joke apparently that went wrong.

Releasing pics of FOAS (Future Offensive Air System) options to the press when they were still classified.

Authorising 12000 glossy A4 prints of EuroFighter at a huge cost. Only it wasn’t EuroFighter in the picture, but a pic of a T-45 Goshawk (All the fuselages are made at Warton now after Boeing scrapped off the first 35 cause they didn’t read the instructions)

Releasing a pic of the Eurofighter Assembly building with the Director of Operations Neil Mckay picking his nose! It was actually printed by the inhouse magazine before anyone apparently noticed. Fortunately for our Mr Mckay Flight International spotted it before using it.

The list goes on…and surprisingly Rob (the editor) is still there!?!?!

Yeah I know it isn't an AIM but was just using it to emphasise that the Nimrod can fire AA missiles smile_o.gif

Placebo is like a sidewinder, always finding out little problems or posts that don't fit in with the forum.

Guess Rob has good connections or always blames someone else.

But I agree, completely unprofessional.

Ok just to let those interested know.

The RKSL Nimrod MR2 first flew at 0420 on the 29th October 2004.

Does anyone know of a mirror that works for the CoC Torpedoes. Everytime i try and get it off their site its corrupted. Anyone point me in the direction of a copy?

Cheers

Cool, the first time I read that I thought that's a strange time for a test flight, then I read it again with my brain in gear and noticed the RKSL bit. Nurse get me 500cc's of coffee, stat! crazy_o.gif

Thanks for that but i'm still getting a corrupt file.  I've tried 3 or 4 sources now and the archive is always corrupt - so odds are its something to do with my set up - i'll try from home tomorrow.
