New SOC Mission Thread

We have had a few changes recently at the Special Operations Command. Therefore, I asked Shadow to lock the other SOC mission thread so I could create a new one. Here I will post everytime we release a new mission. Please post your comments so we can get some feedback on our work. Feel free to visit the SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND WEBSITE and post your thoughts in our forums as well. You can expect exciting, coop, special ops missions featuring the best addons the OFP community has to offer.

We here at COMBAT! tried the misson last night.

A few things we noticed were:

If AI is driver of zodiac, he will refuse to get close to shore for other units to disembark. Also, AI driver was trying to drive through the LST during the intro.

We all got a missing addon message, WG_Target, I believe. And it also refused some players to connect because they didn't have Laser's Deltas installed.

Misson was pretty easy and too short, for 4 players and rest of team AI. Maybe make a second objective?

Misson requires BAS Blackhawk, but none were present in the misson.

Thanks for the info Rudedog, let me respond. My missions are for coop squads, not 1 person and the rest AI. If you played it with 4 guys, then you should have turned the AI off. That's just the way we always play and that's the way I build my missions, expecting no AI. I usually try to throw down enough playable slots so bigger coop squads can play them. The WG_Target thing was something I overlooked. I used one of the markers from the War Games Marker Pack and didn't put it in the readme or in here as a required addon, DOH! I did the same thing with the Laser Deltas. When I first made the mission I was using his Deltas. Then the Rangers got released and I changed it over. The mission requires the BAS Blackhawk because there is one on the map. Why? So I could use the BAS script on the enemy armor so when they explode you get a better special effect. Not to mention I can't imagine someone not having all of the BAS addons installed. You also stated that the mission was too short. That's the way it was suposed to be. Get in and secure the area. It's a special operations mission. Get in, get the job done, and get the hell out. Now, I might make some longer missions later, like a LRRP mission or something. Anyway, I sure appreciate the feedback. Your addons are awesome btw.

Intel Brief On Kolgujev

11 OCT 04

The situation in Kolgujev is slowly getting worse. The fighting between local forces and the Russian invaders has escilated over the past few days. New satellite images show large vehicles that could possibly be mobile scud launchers. We are putting the U.S. and Australian special operations forces on high alert. If it is confirmed that these are scud launchers, we will have to send a team in to distroy them. One obstical is the rough terrain. If we want to get a team in quietly, we might have to use a HALO or HAHO jump. More information is being gathered at this time.

Hey man.  I've always thought to myself, wouldn't it be cool to do a mission slightly based off of real world modern events either in Chechnya or Cuba since both of them seem to be the only real world maps, aside from russia, for ofp?  Like, maybe the Chechens strike in America, so then America tasks SOCOM with operating there?  You know how terrorists are.  They're all sneaky n stuff and if they know that war is declared in their country then they'll friggin blow all kinds of stuff up in America under our noses so we do it all covert style and send in SOCOM.

Maybe there can be a boss character who you find out about during oh say the fourteenth mission.  Rangers are being dropped off at key points like bridges hiding amongst the bushes to target key sympathisers with the terrorists.  They kill the guy right while he's driving in his vehicle waiting day and night till he arrives.  Completely failing if they are spotted by either res, east, or civillians.  They then move to a covert extraction.  I mean something so good not even russia knows.  Or maybe russia does know but...I don't know that part yet.  I want all the special forces to be involved though, so I am going to wait until the laser delta force update is complete and extractions seals or whomever's seals and green berets addon.  I forget his name.  But I could start work on it now.  I'm pretty much done with all prior engagements, some forgotten, some completed.

The Chechnya situation is a small conflict so this would qualify right?

I don't know I think the coolest thing I'd want to see would be the Rangers sneaking in and making a safe house for the other guys to operate out of.  Perhaps a garage or something really covert.  Maybe in a really run down section of town with good surveillance capabilities.  Have SOCOM set up a base of operations there temporarily and run special operations all throughout the country from that spot.  That'd be awesome to see it start off from there.  Maybe at some point the soldiers receive orders to not only eliminate the terrorist threat, but help the Chechens to form a democracy.  It's kind of a sensitive subject, so I don't want to offend anybody but its been an idea of mine to do a "slightly based off of real world events" type of situation. It's kinda hard to tell who the good guy is in that situation. Cuba, maybe they could pose some threat to America somehow and America does something about it. I know people hate to imagine this stuff because "what if somebody reads this" but clearly our missions have a solution.  Tell me what you think.

You have some great ideas there. I have been thinking about starting a storyline group of MP CooP missions. I was going to have it based on the current situation in Sudan and put the missions on Tonal. I'm not sure what you know about the current crisis in Sudan, but you can learn more HERE. Basically what I was going to do is start with the infultration. Probably a HALO jump into the jungle where you meet up with the local good guys. From there, they will show you where the militia strongholds are. You will assault the strongholds, camps, etc in a few missions. You will escort some U.N. humanitarian aid, which will get attacked, and so on. The idea of a storyline based group of MP CooP missions is an awesome idea. Hopefully I can make it happen.

Yeah it is.  Hmmm.  Would you call Aristide's forces the good guys?  I'd say.  Though some disagree, he IS on the opposite side of the coup d'etat.  They're trying to overthrow him saying he's corrupt, and some American officials believe it too.  This you might find interesting.  The thing is, I'm not sure but I think that the rebels are in favor of socialism like China.

I was brainstorming with Jerimiah, the leader of the co op clan ERC, and he told me that Cuba was a good idea, even further I went and said that Al Qaeda is fleeing to Cuba and Cuba will not permit U.S. forces to operate there.  If you've seen BadBoys 2 thats kinda what happened to them as well and it was a great movie so I thought I'd do it again but war based. So I was going to think up an entire black op in Cuba to catch just a few fleeing Al Qaeda members, based off not on the real Cuba, but the Cuba island that was released for OFP so no Cubans playing the game will relay anything to their leader and say "well this is where in his mission they said they'd come looking for Al Qaeda if it happened" n stuff like that.  LOL  biggrin_o.gif  

So I'm sure it'd be cool to do.  Bad Boys 2 did it.  Thats what I'm going to work on.  Only thing is, I don't want to use the BAS delta rangers, no offense to bas guys or anything, so I gotta wait for the other mod teams to catch up making some SEALS, DELTAS, GREEN BERETS, and from the screens ive seen they're on the way!     biggrin_o.gif  But man, Lasers rangers ive seen, I think after the next minor update, there won't be another ranger addon out for ofp forever that will replace that.  He really shut it down!   biggrin_o.gif

Cuba would be cool. Another terrorist hot bed is the Philippians. That could be a good area of operations. What island would you use for your Cuba missions? Isn't there a Cuba Island out there? This thread could spark some kick-ass missions.

I saw the island, though it has its own trees, it still has those BIS buildings.  I don't really feel like I'm in cuba when playing on the island, or even in a dangerous country.   biggrin_o.gif   I see why you chose Tonal.  They got their own military and everything, my hats off to BAS for making a fictitious island with its own military and civillians and all that comes with it.  I got pc power beef with Tonal though, not my pc, but i know my old one can't handle it.  That's alright though.  I know other islands that use tonals objects and stuff like that, where I could possibly say its Cuba and stuff and everything would be alright. For some odd reason though, I can't download Pacific Island v2 at all. I'm getting angry.

How's this for an idea?>  "The North Korea connection"  It'd be about China assisting North Korea nuclear ambitions or something. Maybe it'd take special forces into an island near china and owned by them called kinmen who wants to become independent or something.
