Islandmakers Hell

Recommended Posts

OK I've been tugging my hair all morning trying to fix this and can't find any logical solution. crazy_o.gif

I'm making an island in Visitor (512x512 but same problem with any other size),firstly I made heightmap in Photoshop 7.0,saved it as 32bit TGA,converted it to .ASE with Keg's TGA2ASE tool and imported it into Visitor.

So far so good.Next,I apply a simple grass texture from O.pbo (t1.paa),bulldozer loads eveything fine.Then I export it to a .wrp file,and write a config.cpp,PBO it all up (with MakePBO) and place it into addons folder.

Next I startup the OFP without any errors etc. next I doubleclick the island and it starts to load,BUT when it finishes loading OFP CTD's with no error message or does it write error message to Flashpoint.rpt at first I tought that I messed something up in .cpp and I swap it with .cpp that worked on other island I made year back.Nothing,same error.

Any solutions?Anyone else had this problem?

Here is .cpp I'm using:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">

class CfgPatches {

class FTS_Ten {

units[] = {};

weapons[] = {};

worlds[] = {FTS_Ten};

requiredVersion = 1.91;

};

};

class CfgWorlds {

class DefaultWorld {};

class Intro : DefaultWorld {};

class FTS_Ten : Intro {

access = 3;

description = "Ten (FTS Mod)";

icon = "\FTS_Ten\ten.paa";

worldName = "\FTS_Ten\Ten.wrp";

centerPosition[]={25600,25600,200};

class Grid

{

offsetX=0;

offsetY=0;

class Zoom1

{

zoomMax=0.200000;

format="XY";

formatX="Aa";

formatY="00";

stepX=256;

stepY=256;

};

class Zoom2

{

zoomMax=1e30; //1000000015047466219900000000000.000000;

format="XY";

formatX="A";

formatY="0";

stepX=2560;

stepY=2560;

};

};

};

};

class CfgWorldList {

class FTS_Ten {};

};

I read that if you make a mountain too high OFP crashes,I forgot where I read it and what was the limit,but highest point on my island is 397.

Screenshot of the island in Visitor:

Thanks in advance.

Think this belongs in the Visitor forum wink_o.gif

But I think it's a config problem, I suggest you look for Marksman's config file writer.

Visitor? It's OFP that crashes not visitor wink_o.gif

BTW the other config I mentioned was written with Marksmans Config File Writer.

I don't think thats true because if you go out of bounds with terrain it just cuts the terrain and you get an transparent edge.

BTW The picture is not whole island because I couldnt zoom out fully,and there is no land anywhere near edges its about

-43 near edges  wink_o.gif

Not true, at least not with WRPtool wink_o.gif

Suggestion: try to open and save it in WRPtool or WRPedit and then try it ingame wink_o.gif

I've never tried it with WRP-Tool, but with WRP-Edit you had suddenly 30 meter deep sea :P

Did you ever try it with a modifed Nogova config? Then you also got those nice definations of sounds of the ground you're standing on. smile_o.gif

Tried opening in WRP tool then saving but same thing happens.

I'll try opening Nogovas config next,I'll tell you the results,altough I think same will happen   sad_o.gif

EDIT : Didn't work,seems like it's no use in even trying.

BTW is there any difference in using WinXP and Win98 with visitor?

The island classname must be the same as the wrp filename (without the extension).

This is one of the many reasons that the WRPtool package comes with an extensive manual and sample configs which are not exclusive to WRPtool usage.
