ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 9, 2002 How about adding some new buildings? One thing that would really put OFP on top of other games(well, it's already on top from my perspective.) would be having some higher, bigger buildings. The most complex building I saw was a russian 2-story mansion, but that was not enough for me. So, BIS, How about add-on buildings that are like 5 stories high and has a plenty of rooms, so that playing MP inside could be another great experience? Also, how about some bridges? we can put satchels charges or bomb it! That would be fun(for me)! and how about new maps(isles) with creeks, rivers, and 2 stuffs i mentioned above? also, it would really help if we could get scuba gears....then we can play missions where you have to swin for a distance and emerge.... eek....i'm going nuts..... Paladin1469 0 Posted January 10, 2002 pretty much of everything you listed can be found in Ghost Recon (which is also a really kick *** game). but yeah if someone out there knows how to make some complex buildings it'd be really cool. But then again this isnt suppose to be a CQB game, so you've gotta listen to all of those people out there that'll b**** about the buildings.
Placebo 29 Posted January 10, 2002 *Must resist urge, must resist urge* Nope sorry can't resist, IMO GR is utter poop, crap ai, bugs, extremely short, spawning enemies *spit*, total cash-in-rip-off, they should be ashamed for releasing it, the only decent thing in the game is the trees/bushes/grass that move in the wind to set a nice atmosphere, the rest of the game seemed very poor to me
Paladin1469 0 Posted January 10, 2002 ok...true, GR is EXTREMELY short, dosent have many GOOD mods, but i was just using that as an example, would you rather i used a game like Rogue Spear as an example? because every game has its ups and downs.

Agua 0 Posted January 10, 2002 Matter of opinion. I play OpFP far more than I do GR. Probably the main reason being they were so stingey with the maps and no ability to create new terrains. However, for the scope of what it is trying to do, that is, small squad comabt, I think it does an excellent job. I'm well aware of the lack of detailed commands, but, again, for what it is trying to do, I don't know that such detailed commands as are included in OpFP are that important. Difference of opinoin. BTW, I think RS is gay.
Hobo Sniper 0 Posted January 10, 2002 wait...what does this have to do w/ big buildings?
ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 10, 2002 Well, for onething, the more compliacted a building is(or add-on), the more calculation has to be performed by CPU(or whatever it's supposed to be done with). GR has limited space, while as OFP has greater size, thus OFP might be cutting some details in favor of great area. If we have bigger buildings, we might end up with this prob. theavonlady 2 Posted January 10, 2002 I know you can't compare the graphics engine but the only thing I really did like about Novalogic's Land Warrior was the buildings. Even Delta Force 1 and 2's were better than OFP's IMO. And none of them were a major drag on any of the computers I've run LW on. Glass windows that shatter from bullets and nearby explosions, multiple floors, opening and closing doors - just having this would be a major improvement and enable (in theory) some good CQB in OFP. I'm not saying we need structures on the level of RS, GR, SWAT, etc., but there's just tons of room for improvement in OFP's current building models.
christophercles 0 Posted January 10, 2002 we dont need real bridges, jus those unfolding tank bridges. And where would u propose to use them anyway?
Damage Inc 0 Posted January 10, 2002 There is that one big cliff on Malden.
christophercles 0 Posted January 10, 2002 ah ok, land bridges, but they dont even have proper electricty doors, i somehow doubt the citizens of malden are going to build a bridge to get to nowhere.
Bucko 0 Posted January 10, 2002 How about building your own city, possible with DUNE MOD BETA . Real time online. see thread> http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....;t=4051 aslo troops, tanks, and planes OH MY
cervomix 0 Posted January 10, 2002 the problem is that it's hard to move inside buildings, sometimes you go throught a wall, windows or stairs. It's clear that ofp is not like GR and it doesn't attract the same people. Anyway GR is quite funny with the sniper rifle who can shot only about 100 m cause the drawing engine isn't enough powerfull

Bucko 0 Posted January 10, 2002 I think walking through walls, has more to do with netcode, cpu speed and LAGGGG then map. bucko out
ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 10, 2002 Thanx for the link Bucko, although I'm not good enough with PCs to use MODs....heard about flying BMPs and so on.... The bridge can be used over rivers and creeks, if new isles have them. Bridges can be useful in connecting to isles southwest of Everon, or between a small isle in southwest of desert isle.(imo) I'm hoping BIS comes out with a map of galapagos, so that for CTF or DM, you would have to swim/cross bridge to capture enemies flags. Or a place with a plenty of rivers or creeks would also do the same.
Bucko 0 Posted January 10, 2002 The file I have is just a zipped PBO 15kb that you dump into your MP mission folder..  Nothing more….its just like any other  mission…………………… not really an add-on. Quite unbelievable really!!!!!! Bucko out  (I didn’t have any thing to do with the development of this, Goetterfuke is the genius here)
