-33ker 0 Posted September 16, 2004 Quote[/b] ]I don't like this at all! Russia never was a democratic country and it never will be! Thank god I'm out of there for quite a long time now! Are you from Russia? Â Actually I'm 50% German and from Khazakhstan, but half of my family is Russian and they're still living in Russia. The last things I remember from Russian TV were reports about a murdered journalist and people getting crushed by tanks during a demonstration. Of course this changed now, but from all I know there is basicaly the same stuff going on as 10 years ago. Crime is very strong, media are controlled by the state, and the population is freezing to death in winters in remote parts of Russia because the government can't ensure to keep the citie's gas supplies running. Former KGB officers are running the country. So basically the same people are in power as 10 years ago, ex-commies without any expierience in western democracy (not American democracy with only two parties, but a really pluralistic democracy like in Europe). I might be too far away to have a more balanced view on the current situation in Russia and how the country has changed since I left it, but don't tell me the people are really happy there! IceFire 0 Posted September 17, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Anyways, stop bringing Iraq into this.  They are totally different countries in complete different parts of the world.  I´m beginning to get tired of you. YOU posted it goddamnit. YOU tend to post bull and delete it after a few minutes and then run around screaming we should not debate this and that while you brought it up goddamnit. Maybe you better think first and then post. That´s the logical row and not posting first and then activating those lazy braincells. If you don´t want issues discussed that don´t belong here then don´t post that nonsense. Oh yeah? Well guess what mister, I didn't start the debate using Iraq as an example, Raph Wiggum did. I was simply reluctantly responding to him. Maybe you should pay better attention to the thread next time.
Balschoiw 0 Posted September 18, 2004 Maybe Ralph started it, but you posted a lot of bull afterwards and once more decided to delete your posts, like in many other threads. I do pay attention , and I do think before I post. That´s something you can´t really say...
as-33 0 Posted September 18, 2004 I read an interesting article about a russian soldier returning from chechnya in a german news magazine: http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/0,1518,318287,00.html Translation: http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfi....p=de_en What he describes is pure soviet style and shows that russia is still far away from any of the western democracies.
