CoolCarlos2002 2 Posted January 9, 2002 Hi I saw some pics of a chinook "ON" the water I tryed it in flashpoint, works! as long as you keep the rotors on, it even says the "Get out" command instead of "Eject" Just some info...
SimplyCosmic 0 Posted January 9, 2002 I'll have to try that, as I've taken a keen interest in the Chinook lately, having a brother who flys 'em for the US Army.
Hobo Sniper 0 Posted January 9, 2002 Is this supposed to be a good thing or not?
SimplyCosmic 0 Posted January 9, 2002 The Chinook was designed to float, such that it could make water based landings in order to drop off amphibious troops. So, yeah, it's a good thing, not to mention realistic.
Hobo Sniper 0 Posted January 10, 2002 wow...i really didn't know that... So do other helicopters float too? because thats what i heard in another topic...

Hobo Sniper 0 Posted January 10, 2002 well, in REAL life (you don't have one) apache and cobras DON't FLOAT!!!
EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 0 Posted January 10, 2002 If you keep the rotors on you're not really floating at all are you, just hovering.
KDF 0 Posted January 10, 2002 The Sikorsky/Westland H-3 Sea King helicopter was designed to land on water - has a boat shaped underside and outrigger floats around the wheels..although it was rarely done in service.
Mr ThunderMakeR 0 Posted January 10, 2002 Check out the other thread on this topic, i posted some pictures there: REALISM!!
Gambba 0 Posted January 10, 2002 Aircraft like the CH-47 can only land on water or snow with the appropriate kit, which are optional extras.....not standard. So yes it can float/hover with the right equipment, but tell your brother (SimplyCosmic) to make sure he's got the right stuff before attempting an OFP style landing on water. Frizbee 0 Posted January 15, 2002 I was under the impression that a Grenade launcher couldn't be attached to the Steyr without a massive reworking of the barrel and the grenade launcher itself... generally considered to be too much work.
christophercles 0 Posted January 15, 2002 Well then i generally consider the australian army, is doing to much work then....
