Vehicle class fortress/fighting position

Well how about someone knocks up a few vehicle classed static defensive structures and posts?

Is it possible and would it be making a worthwhile contribution to gameplay.

Suuggest you _search_ for bunkers, a team set up whole bunkers and forfitcations for the rash of D-day type missions that came out trying to recreate Saving Private Rayan. Was of modular design so it worked great.

Im aware of them but they were objects and had all the associated problems of trying to get the AI to use them, setpos and switchmoves allround. No integral weaponsystems

Just to clarify what Im talking about are static vehicles with crews that will allow players to lay out defensive positions and fairly elabourate gate defenses, watch towers etc without having to faff about with setpos commands etc.

Key components would be the vehicles themselves and then appropriate cargo/gunner/commander animations.

I have a series of M2 sandbagged positions (wip) based on the vehicle class which enables ai to use them. They also have a creep up factor too which means that once the gunner is aware of the enemy being too close he will get out of the position and use his m16 of what ever side arm he has. They still need some refining, but i could imagine other defence positions could be made the same way.

I should imagine that a wach tower with a fixed MG or two would work the same way? Or maybe if the machine gun gets setpos-ed in a similar way the ones from Colonel_Klink boats? but even easyer, they are static, but I supose that's what Colonel_Klink is on about.

I was thinking of the following; the main goal being to allow the easy creation of defensive positions on the battlefield.

Section Trenches:

1 man shellscrape rifle,

2 man shellscrape MG

2 man shellscrape AT/K

Support weapon Trenches:

3 man HMG pit

3 man ATGM pit

Vehicle fighiting positions:

MBT hull down

APC hull down

Field gun pit

Fixed fortifications

HMG sangar

Blockhouse

Guard tower with MGs

I dont know if your interest went that far Klink but I reckon this pack would pretty much cover a good sample of defensive positions and allow players to throw down good missions in the editor with relatively little hassle or effort.

i would like to know if it could stand HE rounds even if you are only "inside" it(not "get in" in menu)
