How do i edit an old unit addon to use pistols?

I have no idea what forum to put this in, sorry...

I've downloaded a business man addon (by Silent Fox), its just a civilian in a suit. But i think it was made before resistance came out, cause when i addweapon "pistol" in the editor he doesnt have the pistol model in his hand, it shoots and has the optics of a pistol, but no model.

How do i update his addon to work with pistols? step-by-step if you can..

ok i downloaded o2&viewer, and read http://ofp.gamezone.cz/_hosted/brsseb/tutorials/start/start.htm ,for howto install.

Now what do i do?

(i havnt read any tuts or anything, so you might wana explain it to me like im a child... a 24yearold child)

*EDIT* everytime i try to open a p3d it says i couldnt load error thing.. i have no idea

but everything else works?

oxy, textures, dozer?

u cant load a certain p3d because there are diffrent formats

of p3d

ones are compressed (binerized mean theyre odol-format)

otheres are uncompressed mdpl-format

if u can only load p3d into oxy which have mdol format

if u want to edit odol format u need to get the newest

version of odol explorer which can save odol p3ds to mdol format

as for ur model

bis released sample models in mdol foramt which can be edited

if u want to edit the old units to have a gun

copy and paste the berretaproxy from the BISman od the sample models into ur file

note that teh proxy has to appear in diffrent lods

means

all resolution lods, memory lod etc

just looka t the BISman sample model and u figure it out

i recommend some tuts its very usefull as a first step

im trying to edit:

1)Silent Fox's "BusinessMan" found @ http://www.atwar.net/download.php?view.1502

2)and EJ Will and Silent Fox's "Secret Agent v3.0" found @ http://www.ofp.bmj.pl/roznep4.php

i have an UnPBO.exe wich i opend those two addons with and tryed to get their p3d's into oxy but, got "unable to load: load error" thingy...

How do i find out what format these p3d's are in? (odol or mdpl) (i dont know what binerized is) (i dont even know how to script)

{..can someone just edit those two addons for me and email or something?}

*EDIT* i just downloaded ODOL_Explorer_v2.0 and 2.44 but i dont know what i'm doing.. i keep geting errors when it trys to load textures (i dont know where to put the unpbo'd addon)

i opend the 'old' addon in the odol_explorer and saved it, now i can open that p3d in o2.

i also downloaded the bis models, but i have no idea where the berretaproxy is, Or how to copy paste it.

Can someone please explain how to do this? (before this topic goes back to page 4)

i found the proxy:beretta and copy pasted it into the old addon BUT the bisman has 0.150 ,1.000 ,3.000 and 9.000: AND the old addon has 0.150 ,0.350 ,1.000 ,5.000 and 5.384 .

So i copypasted the proxy from 0.150 to 0.150, 0.150 to 0.350, 1.000 to 1.000, 3.000 to 5.000, and 9.000 to 5.384 . And ingame he has the TWO pistol models in his hand! he's holding one gun and theres another floating near his hand!

How do i fix this?

(i assume those numbers are the lod's, but i dont know how to get the old model to have the same numbers as the bisman, if i did get the numbers to match, will that affect the models textures also? and will it fix the double guns?)

*EDIT* the pistol shows in 3rd person view but not in 1st person!

No need to match the LOD numbers. They're irrelevant for what you want to do.

Just paste the proxy into each and every LOD, including Memory, View - Pilot, etc.. All of them. Don't paste it twice though.

"proxy:beretta.01" is a "named selection". It contains a single triangle, which will be replaced by a handgun ingame. But in order for the gun to move with the hand, this triangle is also part of the named selection responsible for animating the hand ("pruka" i think). You have to watch out for this.

I got the pistol to show up in 1st person (putting the proxy in all the lod's), BUT in 3rd person, theres still TWO pistols..

Why is there 2? I need to know how to fix this..please

My guess is you might have accidentally pasted it twice. Or somehow duplicated the selection. First i would make sure there are no duplicats in the named selections window (e.g. "proxy:beretta.01" and "proxy:beretta.02" or something like that). Then i would make sure i don't have two perfectly superimposed triangles for the proxy (it may look like a single triangle, but there could be two). But all this is just guesswork. If you need some hands-on help, you can post a link to your .p3d, and some kind soul might help you out with that.

I give up....

When i edit the 'BusinessMan', it just puts 2 pistols in his hand (no duplicat proxies). When i edit the 'Secret Agent v3.0' theres only 1 pistol (it works for him).

I dont know what happend But when ever i put an edited 'BusinessMan' or 'Secret Agent' in the map they all have the same face and are wearing glasses! (it might be from when i opend them in 'ODOL_Explorer' and saved them,{so i can open them in O2})

Can someone be so kind and edit these addons for me? (or just the 'BusinessMan', found in the 6th post in this thread)

This is what i did:

- opened "BISman.p3d" and deleted everything (selections too). I left only a

single resolution LOD with the beretta proxy in it. Saved it as

"pistolproxy.p3d".

- used ODOLExplorer to convert "sfbus.p3d" to MLOD.

- Opened "sfbus" in O2, and used "Merge" to import "pistolproxy.p3d".

- I deleted the proxy (both named selection and triangle) from

Geo, Hit-Points and LandContact.

- Added in each LOD "proxy:beretta.01" to "pruka".

- Deleted "proxy: sluchatko_proxy.01" from all LODs (again: both selections AND geometry).

- Tadaaaa..

It didn't go as smooth as the above walkthrough would suggest, but after a bit of tinkering it worked.

thats because there are texture applied on the default bis man

u shoudl get a head of an bis soldier

its white in oxygen then
