Farske 0 Posted July 13, 2004 VPU.. No.. Ill try that after I downloaded the latest SB Live drivers thanks! .F
Mister Frag 0 Posted July 13, 2004 If that makes no difference, try lowering the hardware acceleration level one notch for the SoundBlaster.
Heatseeker 0 Posted July 14, 2004 And dont forget to disable your onboard sound, we are all praying for you here .
Farske 0 Posted July 14, 2004 Back I whacked in my card, but I remember that I lent my CD to my friend. Never got it back, thus I cant install drivers, I went to the website and there is only patches for the cards. Damn, so I enabled my mobo sound again and Ive tried it without VPU. When I can try the 5.1 SCard will be a long time, my mate is currently in spain for a week holiday (went yesterday) .. tyyyypical! So currently im stuck, I cant try the sound test. Would downloaded the patch from vanilla install of GOTY to the latest patch 1.96 INSTEAD of going 1.91 then 1.91-1.96.. would that work, well im going to try Any other ideas would be great, thanks for all your help so far. The most annoying thing is sometimes I can play it for a full 5 mins and that 5 mins are awesome!! then its taken away Tata -F

Do NOT install an old SB Live card. They are a disaster and will possibly add to your mix of problems. Go and buy any cheap audio card you can find other than an SB live. Farske 0 Posted July 14, 2004 Ok, hehe Ill take it back out, I havent installed it yet. Any you recommend, Ill get one in next couple of days. thanks -F
Farske 0 Posted July 14, 2004 I just typed in Radeon 9600 Pro Freezing in google and went to Hardware Analysis and WOW 10k replies to a post there bascially talking about the problem I have. I will go out and buy a new card when I can. So on that regard.. anyone suggest an ideal GFX card? regards Farske EDIT: ITs going to be a couple of weeks until I have enough cash to get a GFX card, and if I can get OFP to work with this GFX Card id love it!! So please, any other ideas?

theavonlady 2 Posted July 15, 2004 Time to email your crash files to BIS.
Farske 0 Posted July 15, 2004 I already have a couple of days ago I hope they give support good enough to fix it! I wonder if its Radeon cards, or the ATI Card conflicting with the NForce Chipset? Is it VIA? Im not sure... Anyone know? Its an A78N8X-X Deluxe (AsusTek) How would I find out if its VIA? *shrug* (oh btw, I use Mozilla ) Regards F
theavonlady 2 Posted July 15, 2004 Its an A78N8X-X Deluxe (AsusTek)How would I find out if its VIA? *shrug* It has an NForce2 chipset, hence the NF onboard audio chip.
Farske 0 Posted July 15, 2004 Oh, that simple huh... I thought it VIA was an "engine" type thing and NForce that takes it and uses it. Like ATI Cards done by Powercolor, Sapphire and alike ah ok, ta
Heatseeker 0 Posted July 15, 2004 Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 77F727F8Version 1.96 Fault address: Â 77F727F8 01:000217F8 C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntdll.dll I have no idea but find this part interesting, do you have any other Video card sitting around, even an old one, there's many people that have problems runing OPF with ATI cards. I think sending that crash report to BIS is problably the only way you will get your OPF fixed, considering they have the time to analise it and get back at you, im sry you dont have it fixed yet . Farske 0 Posted July 15, 2004 Ah hrm, well I guess I got to wait and I have no spare card lying about, nae. I could nick my sisters card, but thats just mean... GForce. Ive emailed PowerColor (ATI Distributer) a complaint about the card. We will see what happens. Regards F
Madus_Maximus 0 Posted July 15, 2004 Most people I know with ATI cards have issues with Flashpoint, like random CTD and invisible units (quite comical in mp games when u see them run into enemies posstions). I'd suggest a GeForce FX, anything OVER 5600, the 5600 and below are quite honestly not worth the money, they're like the MX range of the GeForce 4 cards. Look on www.ebuyer.com, they generally have some nice prices for cards and other hardware. I have the same board as you also, although I've never tried it with an ATI card, just my GeForce 3 (meh it still works, methinks it'll be replacing time soon). I hope you fix it, if all else fails or you can't wait till you've got the money to get a new card ask your friends if they have an old GeForce or something lieing around they're not using, then at least you'll be more sure of it being an ATI issue. Farske 0 Posted July 15, 2004 Thats a point, ill steal my sisters card, whack it in, install, patch and thent try OFP with that. IF it crashes.. BAH If it DOESNT crash.. Ill be angry at ATI. I shall let you know!

BraTTy 0 Posted July 16, 2004 I skimmed back thru some of this and in your first post you were saying that you had 3 hard drives....are they stacked together, cause that can cause alot of heat.Any one of those hard drives failing will cause your computer to lock up. You also say that you cleaned your case and cards and they were dusty.I suspect 3 things now that you have narrowred it down and it doesnt appear to be video problem. -CPU dust (is your fan/heatsink clean and are you sure the fan is spinning?) -Hard drive heat (the 3 stacked near each other or dusty between, high rpm drives also cause alot of heat) -Chipset drivers and more importantly the ide and agp ones I also would check your cables ,especially the hard drive ones Try running your computer with the side cover off,and maybe even a fan blowing in it
Placebo 29 Posted July 16, 2004 Good advice, my PC doesn't appear to run hot, yet if I put the side panel on it will turn itself off sometime within an hour, despite the fact I bought an additional case fan.
Farske 0 Posted July 16, 2004 I thought why explain when I can take a pic! Ive taken some pics of the computer. 1 - Inside computer 2 - Again inside but closer 3 - Front (where it sits) (side is always off) 4 - Picture 2 but LABELED Pictures are here - ME - regarding your questions Ill answer them directly. CPU Dust - checked that when I cleaned it out hard drive heat - testing in about 20 mins! chipset drivers ... hrm I downloaded the files placebo said, which were the latest chipset drivers. *shrug* ta Cables seem okay. See if you can notice anything. It runs with the side cover off. thanks for the advice. Hope rising!! Regards Hopeful Farske
