O2 or Milkshape

Recommended Posts

I have learned how to make addons in O2 and was wondering if there is a benifit to using milkshape over O2. Is milkshape easier to use than O2 and is it easy to import models from other games using milkshape. Just wanted to know what most of you use to make addons.

I use and have only used O2 for all SEB and BAS models that I made.

I started modelling with milkshape. I used to use it for the basis of all my flashpoint modelling, to be imported into O2, but in the past week working on my latest little project I've been using O2 all the way and haven't looked back once.

If Milkshape had full support for p3d I'd seriously consider going back, but I don't see that happening. I'd love to see O2 developed into a tool like Milkshape for multiple formats and games though.

As far as a benefit to using Milkshape, there is none. It's a little easier for learning on, but O2 is more capable once the user has overcome the learning curve. I haven't imported models from other games, though once they're in Milkshape it would be as easy as importing to O2 normally, meaning pretty simple.

There is a thread in here somewhere concerning the Predator addon. It would appear to be imported from AvP2 via Milkshape. "shockhorror" may be able to comment on the process better.
